NYU help

I'm a junior from the suburbs of NYC at an all girls catholic private school. I'm white, Catholic and my school is pretty prestigious. I love how this is going...
Anyway. I had some trouble Freshman year (i was really apathetic), but I've brought up my grades tremdously since then.

My school doesn't do class rank. It's out of a 5.0 scale, and they said that they can't convert it to a 4.0 scale because it "isn't right". Freshman year I had no honors and a B+ average. Sophmore year I had 2 honors and an A- average (I started off with C's and ended with A+'s). Junior year I have all honors but 1 (couldn't take the 1 AP offered because I didn't take it in Soph year) and I have an A average. Next year I am taking AP English, AP Spanish & AP Physics.

Extra cirriculars. I've been doing Soup Kitchen & Social Action since I was a freshman. I started the newspaper in Sophmore year and I'm going to be one of the Editors next year. I run Spring Track since Sophmore year and Cross Country since Junior year. I'm a Peer Minister and I tutor Chemistry and Physics since Junior year. I went to Parsons School of Design Pre-College in Sophmore Year and I'm going to Stanford U Newspaper thing this summer. I work during the year at Weight Watchers (I lost 55lbs over sophmore year) and over the summer at a cell phone distributor.

I am getting very good reccomendations from my Chemistry teacher and my Art History teacher, as well as my Guidance Counseler. I plan on majoring in Art History. I'm an "athletic scholar", I know I'll be in the NHS and I'm hoping to get a scholarship from this Italian society in my neighbotrhood.

I got a 630 on the Chemistry SATII last year. This year, I'm taking Math I & Lit. I got a 1750 on the PSAT (1440 first time around when I was in the apathetic stage), but I've been studying a lot and hoping to get a 1900-2100 on the SAT in April. I'm taking the ACT next September.

I'm doing early decision next year and I've been showing a strong interest to the admissions since the middle of last year. I have 2 legacies, which I don't know how much that'll help. I'm really, really scared I won't get in. I'm hoping they'll see that I've matured and turned my life around and whatnot.

bump? come on!

i guess I should include my GPA on the 5.0 scale.
Freshman: 3.345
Sophmore: 3.757
Junior (as of first semester): 4.564

You have good ECs. The upward trend in GPA will definitely help. If you can pull off a good SAT score, that will help. I'm not sure if NYU will like Math I, you should take Math II instead. The legacies will help. I think you stand a very good shot if those SATs come out as planned. Good luck!

thanks. i REALLY need to improve my SATs.

bump?

bump?????????

hey

to calculate percentage for your GPA's

Freshman year= 3.345/5.0 = 66.9%
Sophmore year= 75.14%
Junior year= 91.28%

on a 4.0 scale
Freshman year: 2.8
Sophmore year:3.0
Junior year:3.6

are these unweighted or weighted?

Ec's are pretty decent

you NEED 2000 SAT

you average GPA would be [4.0 scale]= 3.13

if you apply to NYU [CAS] you have a decent chance [need the 2000]

SAT's are solid, you are capable of 630, why not shoot for 680 something? with a good amount of prep you should be able to achieve a 700.

good luck :]
