NYU HEOP Applicants class of 2019

Not enough. Went down in my list, but its okay, wasn’t too excited for nyu regardless

Guys I got in through c-step, is this different or…?

@qvpo87 How did you found out that you got accepted through c-step? Did they send you a e-mail or through
albert?

Email which was in my spam folder, so check in there if you have not received one yet

@Sonic1711‌ ^^

accepted to stern thru heop … full ride

My son was accepted to Poly- Full Ride. Got email, last Friday and hard copy of same letter in a nice package yesterday in the mail. He also just received an email from the HEOP chair about orientation and the Summer session today. Looks like we are an NYU fam now. congrats to everyone who got in and if you didn’t, I hope wherever you go, you are all successful and happy. We need you guys to make this world better! Good luck everyone!

Hey guys! Sorry I don’t have the drive to fill out the complete breakdown but I’ll give a quick gist since I would’ve found this helpful as a junior/incoming senior.

WAITLISTED TO CAS** (Regular Decision)

SAT: 800 Math/ 720 Reading/ 690 Writing
GPA: 4.0 (+)
APUSH: 4
AP Bio: 4
AP English L&C: 3
AP Calculus BC: 5 (AB subscore: 5)
Senior Year: AP Chem, AP Physics 2, AP Psychology, Honors everything else (besides gym)
ECs: Volunteer at local hospital for 5 years/ Regional and State Level 1st Place at PJAS for 3 years/ I was a member of a lot of clubs but lacked leadership positions.
Race: Indian
Gender: Female
Reflections: Super super disappointed. After seeing a lot of other breakdowns from accepted applicants, I concluded that I lacked the WOW factor (College summer classes/programs, leadership positions, etc.)

Sincere congratulations to those who made it and good luck to future applicants!

What is the difference between the accepted and offered financial package?

In albert, you have an option to accept or decline the offers on your financial aid package. This is really for loans. Though when I first viewed my package, everything was automatically “accepted” except the loans, and it wouldn’t let me accept the loans.

While I’m at it, I’ll post my stats.

Accepted into POLY (HEOP)

SAT: 580 Math/ 620 Reading/ 580 Writing (super scored)
GPA: 3.7 weighted
AP SPANISH: 4
Senior Year: Honors Physics, Basic Calculus, Honors Eco/Gov, Drama, Electronics and Computer Circuitry (trade school major)
ECs: US FIRST Robotics club (treasurer) (4 years), Music club (1 year), SkillsUSA (2 years), worked at a store (1 year), worked for my school district doing online peer mentoring (1 year) , ran morning store at my school for 3 years (450 hours), National Honor Society, and did summer course at Monroe college.
Race: Hispanic
Gender: Male
Reflections: pretty surprised honestly. My SAT scores aren’t that high, and my GPA is only a 3.7 (90 out of 100). I did write killer essays though (especially the supplemental), and they loved me at the interview. I’m pretty sure it was those, along with the well rounded ECs and volunteer work that got me in.

Let me know if you want to me my financial aid package.

@clubkevin11‌ The loans are only a figure until the final packages are completed, so it’s an estimate more or less. You have follow the instructions on Albert. Look at the bottom of your summary where the codes are and there is a link to fill out your Loan paperwork and do a tutorial that is required by the school. After the tutorial you will get to sign your Loan promissory note. But I am sure they will explain that at your HEOP orientation to clarify. I just like to stay ahead with my son’s paperwork because you know how that goes. You always get that something is missing notice…lol. Congratulations on your acceptance. I hope the program helps you to reach all your dreams.

@Phoenixfire220 Thanks for the kind words. It nice that you’re on top of your son’s paperwork. My parents pretty much let me handle everything lol. And can I ask, how long did it take for you to receive the hard copy of your son’s acceptance letter after you got the email? I still haven’t received mine…

@clubkevin11 The following week. It’s a big envelope. Hope you got it already

All HEOP people how much do you all have to pay in loans.

Guysss I cant accept my finaid package

@fahi12 How much financial aid did u get?

@Everybodysfool I have a name issue so I can’t see anything

That’s why I wanted to know

@fahi12 it’s probably full scholarship though
