I didn’t too
I got an invitation and went to the city. It was basically an interview!
@ohdora when did you got the invitation ???
@ohdora will they hold anymore interview for HEOP, or they only have one interview for ED 2.
I got the email on the 20th of this month. Yes, I applied ED 2, and I believe that the six other people who were there applied ED as well. I couldn’t tell you if they are not holding them anymore. The interview was for the HEOP of NYU not NYU itself. During the information session, the woman said, “Congratulations! You are here because NYU admissions liked and would otherwise accept your application, but there are some discrepancies (SAT/ACT or GPA). So they referred you to the HEOP team who will perform a “Wholistic evaluation”.” There is also a score minimum and maximum in order to qualify.
@ohdora Do you mind sharing your stats?
@ohdora what you mean by the score maximum and minimum to qualify??? You mean SAT score or GPA ?.
ED II + HEOP CAS Biology
SAT: 1210 (This is my lowest of anything… i’m so sad about it :((( this is why I applied to HEOP)
Unweighted GPA: 3.7
Class Rank 10%
AP: Calculus, Biology, English, Spanish
Ethnicity: 1st Gen American from African Parents (I don’t qualify for slave descendant scholarships)
Why NYU: 9/10
Common App Essay: 10/10
Teacher Reqs: 9/10
Applicants from my school: 2 or 3 including myself I think…
EC:
-Girls Varsity Soccer Captain for two years (Not planning to play in college so that has no weight besides the leadership position)
-MUN Head delegate for 2 years
-President of Spectrum (Multicultural Club)
-STEM program participant for 2 years
-Sister to sister international member for 2 years
-1500+ hours of community service (some school mandated but mostly by my own discretion)
Income: 37,000
Family size: 4
Yes, there’s a range for the SAT ACT and GPA score that they accept. I don’t really remember them but the SAT score capped somewhere in the 1300’s. If you are above or below that range, they can’t accept you.
@ohdora we have the same SAT score and my GPA is 96.34(W). My family income is: 15,000 Family size: 4
AP: Cal BC, English language, physic, government, and macroeconomics.
Still no invitation !!!
@ohdora since we have the same sat score of 1210, that means my sat score is within the range ?? is 96.34 weighted GPA to high ???
@ohdora can you tell me ur GPA in term of percentage ? Because I am not sure what is a GPA of 3.7 convert to
My GPA in percentage terms is 92.5. But it’s UNWEIGHTED. Make sure yours in unweighted before you compare it to mine.
And if SAT is the same, you are within the range.
@ohdora what is ur weighted average in term of percentage ??
I can’t know because I don’t know all the grades and all the values of the classes I took in high school. I’ve taken a lot of AP’s though.
So no interview means you are rejected ??
@choaz r u going to give them a call or something ??
@Smartisan5 I think there are not much I can do. I called them last week, and they are still saying the same thing — Wait for the invitation. I am pretty desperate.
@choaz me too, I am checking my email every five minutes!
