Nyu heop summer program experience???

I'm being considered for the NYU heop program. I already went to the information session and had my interview. If accepted to the program I would live on campus because I'm not within the commuting distance.

My overall question is what is the summer program like? What were your experiences? I heard some HEOP programs are very stict, have curfew, and treat you like second class citizen just based on the fact that the government is paying for everything. I just want to know the experiences of NYU HEOP student and what the summer program was like. I know that not every university is the same!!!

You can go on their website, but from what I know from a friend who was admitted was that the program is very fun. You get to become acclimated with the campus, make new friends, and take classes to “catch up” with everyone else. As far as curfews go, I think that depends on whether you’re dorming or not. The friend I know of didn’t dorm but commuted because she lives in the area.

do heop acceptances come in the mail or e-mail?

Usually mail.

Does anybody know if everybody considered for NYU HEOP is interviewed? I heard only some people are interviewed. :?

Usually if you are being considered for the program they send you a letter stating that you have to sign up and attend an eligibility and information session. The way you do this is you enter your NYU ID# that come in the letter and you make yourself and account for nyu. Then you sign into NYU albert and theres a calendar with specific events. You look for the one’s stating Opportunity Programs and you RSVP! You are responsible for signing up for your interview, they don’t give you a time and date!!

I know for stony brook i didnt get an email i just checked my solar and i was accepted for eop, do you guys think we’ll get the email at the same time as all the rd applicants or do you think we have to check the albert to see if we got accepted?
