how much does being a URM can boost a persons chance at being admitted into nyu?

errr....personally I don't think URM's are such a big deal. I mean, good job, you're a bright student- but that doesn't mean you should be rewarded just for being a specific race/ origin. One SHOULD be awarded for merit and an ability to grow/ learn from an experience one had....but not for being for example black or turkish.

you know what I mean?

sorry that was totally not connected with the question

I say, yes, it might make a difference dependiing on your stats. It will make a difference for sure, but probably not much....like don't hold your breath that one day your race will save you...lolz

good luck w/ NYU, I wish I could go there.

NYU don't care about hooks, they're too huge. Being a URM would matter less there than Ivys for example, too, because it is a more urban school and it doesn't have the 'WASPish' stereotype to deal with.

really...i thought nyu really cared about diversity...

URM = huge hook

Yeah, I guess that being a URM would help more than I said. I was just talking about less demographic hooks - e.g. National chess champion or something.
