<p>Are the housing preferences (choice of residence hall, roommate choice etc) given firstly to stronger candidates, or are they completely random, or do they have their own method of giving which student's preference first? Does it matter how fast i turn in the ''candidate's reply form''?</p>

<p>Also, I know a couple of guys going to NYU with me next year; is it possible to request roommates?</p>
<p>housing preferences are only give to early decision applicants. everyone else is just completely random. and YES you can request roommates. on your housing forms (which will be filled out online) there will be a place to put down the names and ID numbers of students you want to live with... they have to put you down on their forms too in order to be placed together. also, on your housing forms you will be able to rank the dorms from first choice to last choice, but again, its like a lottery... luck of the draw.</p>
<p>How often is it that an RD app is shut out of his first choice dorm? I'm also itching for U Hall. also, if you pair with a roommate beforehand, does that improve chances at all, or does it not work like that?</p>
