Hey guys, im on the waiting list for housing right now and would like to know what are the odds of getting one of these three dorms...alumni, carlyle, or water street? I have strong interest in both water street and alumni...out of these dorms which is the most/least popular and whether housing in the past gives students one of their top choices? btw, im a sophomore. any input would be greatly appreciated.

potomac, two of my D's friends had the experience of unfortunately being on the housing waitlist while at NYU. Neither had a choice of where they were being placed, and neither got the dorm they wanted. Back then, what happened was the offer was made, as in, "we are offering you a room, do you still want it?", and they had to say yes or no without even knowing what dorm it was. They had to send in their deposit to hold the spot, prior to knowing where they'd be. One was placed mid to late Sept. and the other didn't get a room til early Oct. Maybe things are handled differently now, but if not, I wouldn't count on a particular dorm if I were you. Best of luck.

thank you for the response alwaysmom. On the waitlist form it requested which dorms you would prefer, so I selected water street because it was the furthest from campus/possible less popular? Housing said that I should find out within the next 1-2 weeks.

If I may ask, what dorms were your D's friends placed in? Thank you for the response btw.

any other input would be greatly appreciated.
