NYU Housing?

Hi, I was accepted to NYU RD, and now I'm looking at dorms, but I'm a little worried about what dorms i will be able to get. I've already dont a lot of research about the dorms, and I'm pretty sure I want Third North.
My main questions are about the application process. When do we apply for what dorm we want? Or do we even get to choose? As in what type of room we want, etc.
Also does NYU really choose roommates randomly?
Also, any other information about housing as a freshman would be very helpful :)

It'd be great to hear from someone who goes to NYU who has already gone through this process, but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

I asked someone who is a junior? at Tisch now, and she said that when she was a freshman, she got to pick her first three choices. When she got her last choice (which was Brittany, I think), she talked to them and explained that it was her last choice and they changed it for her. But I’m guessing that obviously, you can’t always have it your way. I don’t know, it might have changed. I’m looking into dorms now, so I have no experience.

I didn’t get the acceptance letter yet because I changed addresses like 3 times since I applied… since you’re asking this, I’m guessing there aren’t housing forms in the letter they sent us?

Also, as an incoming freshman, I would like to know if having a single room would be hard.

Thank you so much for the information. That’s going to help a lot while I’m waiting for my housing information to come. And yup, you guessed right! There isn’t any housing information in the packet, but I read somewhere that it might come next week in the mail, so I’m hoping!
Still waiting to see though. I hope you get your admissions packet soon!

Also, I’m wondering the same thing as you. I’m hoping to get a single bedroom in Third North, so does anyone know if they’re hard to get?

I don’t think Third North has singles, but they do have suites with private bedrooms. You’ll share a common living area but have your own room; if that’s what you mean by single, then yes. (They do cost more though.)

You have to read the material to see that housing deposits and making choices is after you make the accept the offer deposit. It’s in the packets.
