I think you academics would be forgiven if your ecs were strong. but they're not. that being said.. .steinhardt is less competitive. So maybe gsp?

I don't think you have as little chances as the posters above are intending. Your ACT places you in the middle-ish range of ACT scores for NYU, and your GPA and rank are good as well. It's really just the SAT 2s and ec's (which if you elaborated upon here, might help us to understand you better) that could potentially be problems. I agree with elvenqueen10 in that steinhardt is less competitive. Did you also take any AP's/Honor classes? Don't give up! I definitely think you have a good chance. Remember, a lot of people here will give completely different opinions, so don't base your chances too much on the responses in this thread. Good luck, either way you'll find a great school, whether it be NYU or somewhere else.

Including this year 7 APs, the rest of my core classes would be honors.

For EC's I put:
VP for NHS
PAL (Mentor program)
Active Member of Church
Global Awareness Club
Track and Field (only 9th and 10th)
Physics Club
Chemistry Club
Interact Club
Ping Pong Club

I have 100+ hours in Volunteer
also have work experience

Top 5% award soph, junior, and most likely senior year
Recieved honor from school board for "outstanding student of the month"
In the gifted and talented program

I disagree; I think that you have a pretty decent shot esp. since you are top 4% and the very rigorous courseload of all honors and 7 APs. The only weak spot is the 1800 and the SAT IIs. But once again Steinhardt is less competitive so you will probably get in.
