I'm an NYU freshman from Europe, and since this site was pretty useful to me during the application process and my senior year, I thought I'd pay it forward and field any questions wannabe-applicants have.

FAQs:
- I'm an undeclared journalism major.
- I got a 1930 on my SAT.
- I'm in on-campus education.

Ask me anything about the campus (or lack thereof), classes, what surprised me, what didn't, etc.

@ksophj I’m really enjoying it, but I’m a city-slicker rather than a fan of the countryside by nature, so I think I’d be happy in any city. NYC has so many opportunities (I’m a theater fan, so the shows are amazing) that put it a couple rungs higher; on the whole, I adore it.

For what it’s worth, and I haven’t seen this mentioned elsewhere, I don’t actually feel like NYC is super big. I feel like I live in a quadrant from 6th Av. across to Avenue A, and from East 12th down to Houston – that might as well be the entire city, since I only venture outside that box once every two weeks. It doesn’t feel at all overwhelming.

@injunioryear Probably! CAS has an acceptance rate of something like 33-35% (higher than Stern/Tisch, I think) and the SAT isn’t the only thing they look at. What they’re looking for is that you applied yourself in high school and that you didn’t waste your time (i.e. that you were involved in extra-curriculars. On the subject of ECs, I disagree with folks who say they should be in your field of study. Well and good if they are, but I don’t think it’s a requirement – showing that you displayed drive/initiative/interest is all ECs really need to do.)
