Hi!
I am a korean-american who lives in pennsylvania. I go to a suburban school, Wissahickon High School, and currently am a junior. I am thinking about applying to nyu, specifically stern. What are my chances??

Here are my cred.
gpa: 3.60 (unweighted)
class rank: 95.42% (weighted)
Class size: 349
SAT I (so far): 2030 (reading: 670, math: 690, writing: 670)
SAT II (so far): Korean (720), plan to take (math 1c, literature, us history)
Activities:
Symphony Orchestra, Stars Program tutor, soph class committee (Co-pres), school newspaper (editor), pit orchestra, fbla (secretary, 10th rep), debate club, asian studies, string ensemble, student councel (rep, senator), national honors society, ....and many more awards
Classes: All honors, ap (euro history, us history, statistics), except for one elective.

**I know that my sat, and gpa are kind of low.. but they should go up by end of junior year. Any comments will be appreciated.

Your GPA is weak, I hope you're loaded up on AP courses!
your SAT is decent.. try to bring it up to a 2100+

Try to advertise yourself in a way that you'll stand out.. your profile looks a bit typical to me, especially your activities. and awards. I'm sure you can bring out your passion!

If its CAS i think you have a really good shot actually.... more than most, your gpa falls within the median and your SATS are above the median. Youll probably get in.

i dont know about stern but i applied to CAS with a similar GPA but an SAT score 100 points higher and SAT IIs in the 700s and i was rejected.
I had a lot of extracurriculars too (mostly music), all APs and honors.
so maybe NYU just had something against me or youd want to significantly improve either your stats or your activities.

I was about the same stats wise, had different and possibly more impressive ECS, and a very unorthodox (but well written essay) but I'm also white-though I think that is mattering less and less with all the international and ethnic students competing with each other for spots as it is. I got in, with scholarship and a Uni day invite. Anything is possible.. with college admissions these days, it's simply a crapshoot. Have confidence in yourself, let that show through, but in the end, don't stress too much- cause amazing candidate or not- you may get in and you may not no matter what we say. If you really like NYU it's worth a shot

Thanks guys. really appreciate the comments. To clarify some other things.. my senior courses are ap (physics, english, econ., calc 1) and i decided to drop lit for sat 2 and take math 2c. For extracuriculars, i think i have pretty good chances of leadership positions in like 5. Does this help much?

If NYU is your first choice, apply early to CAS you will have a really good chance of getting in. A lot of kids in my school with much lower stats were accepted early, but the Stern kids had much higher both ED and RD soo good luck! - DAN
