NYU is not for the student who is...

Hi! I saw this on another thread and I thought it was really interesting - "NYU is not for the student who is..." Any opinions?

who needs their hand held to do things. And if you don’t like BIG city life, steer clear of NYU. If you like privacy, you may want to rethink your choice

…is incapable of being independent (as sueinphilly said).

…is too inflexible or self-centered to understand that there are many, many other people in the city.

…is terrified of new things.

…thinks New York City is nothing more than the Olive Garden in Times Square.

…is discriminatory against individuals based on their sexual orientation, gender, race, sex, religion, disability, or any combination thereof.

…takes everything far too personally.

…is the type who thinks sitting on a quad listening to some stoned frat boy strum what could maybe pass as a Dave Matthews Band or Phish song on his guitar while making plans for going to the “Big Game” later is the best thing ever about college.

(I might think of more.)

drives a car.
has no money.
is scared of the elevator.
can’t cross a street.
stands on the left side of an escalator.
is heavily addicted to shopping without sufficient cash to support such a condition.

close-minded.

Oh, oh, another one:

…doesn’t know the rules of the sidewalk. (Hint: it’s just like driving a car)

hates the city
does not like loud places
dislikes public transportation

who…doesn’t want to be on “The Cash Cab” game show.

hoping for a conventional college experience.

it’s not college, it’s NYU.

…Not used to seeing homeless people with cell phones or shopping carts.
…Only wants to see people who look like them.

wow, now i’ve seen the homeless people with shopping carts but cell phones? that’s different

want to be normal

Seriously, growing up here wasn’t good for me. I go out to shop everytime I get money. I go to the mall at least once or twice a week! You can’t help it when there’s somewhere to shop on every block!

… is scared of pigeons. The pigeons are so nasty. Growing up in New York City for 17 years of my life, I have been avoiding pigeons. If I see a pigeon ahead, I cross the street to avoid it. They are dirty and don’t even fly away when you come closer. When they do fly its scary because it feels like they’re going to **** on you. It’s no way to live :(

@joux
Haha! The last time I was in NYC, which was in April, there was like a huge mass of pigeons in the middle of Times Square and then all of a sudden they just started flying all over the place. It was like a tornado of pigeons. One of them pretty much punched me in the face. But seriously everyone, if you’re afraid of pigeons don’t go to NYU because NYC pigeons definitely aren’t afraid of you.

Haha, I think if I ended up at NYU I’d be okay with the pigeons. My school is right near the beach and during lunch every single day we’re swarmed by sea gulls. You can’t call yourself a student at my school if you haven’t been crapped on by one of them!

Dependent. 10 char

Also, you can’t be afraid of squirrels. I was sitting on a bench in WSP one day, wearing a beige jacket with pockets on the sides, and a squirrel jumped onto the bench, sat right next to me, OPENED MY POCKET, put the nut she had been carrying inside, then scampered away, only to return in five minutes to take it out. The entire time, I just sat there, staring at her, because seriously, how else does one react to a squirrel using you as Tupperware?

Lol! The same thing happen to me. When I had my Opportunity program interview for NYU in November I was siting in WSP waiting for the time to pass and a squirrel came to the bench and sat next to me for the whole time lol. Squirrels in Long Island run away when they see humans so It was weird but comforting I met my first NYU friend lol
