heyitzerin - You have to take either science or math while you’re in LSP.

From the LSP page “Mathematics -
LS students must fulfill a math or science requirement for the A.A. degree. However, While LS requires only one math or one science for the A.A. degree, students must also satisfy the specific math requirement for their bachelor’s degree program. Students undecided about their major may postpone taking math until after transfer. (There are different math requirements depending on a student’s major.) LS does not offer math courses; students take the math courses offered at the College of Arts and Sciences Mathematics department (the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences).”

Above, I talked about my daughter finishing LSP in 3 semesters. She will have finished all of her requirements, so the 16 AP/College Credits are taking the place of her electives.

"Will I get credit from Liberal Studies for AP classes and college courses?
NYU accepts AP credit if you receive a 4 or 5 on the AP test and accepts credit from most colleges if you receive a grade of B or better. Although advanced standing credits may be useful towards the overall 128 credits needed for the NYU degree, they generally do not satisfy specific NYU and Liberal Studies requirements. EXCEPTION: A 4 or 5 on the AP test for Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry will meet the general math and science requirements. Students should also note that the several undergraduate schools of NYU have different policies on whether AP or Advanced Standing credit will be accepted in fulfillment of school and/or major requirements. "

NYU and Sarah Lawrence are very different schools. NYU has the Morse Academic Plan which, if you had been admitted to your first choice program within NYU, would have required you to take some core requirements.

The LSP program has changed from the 2008-2009 year and will now require three semesters each of Cultural and Social starting in September. How do you feel about that?

The current freshmen only take Cultural and Soc. 1 and 2. They have a Global Cultures requirement as well. The LSP page isn’t loading now for me but you can contrast the 2009 and 2008 programs yourself.

I love NYU and I love Econs. But I feel that it’s safer to get a Business Degree in terms of future jobs prospects. ALso im a little unsure of the academic standard of the Liberal Studies program. I don’t want to waste two years learning irrelevant stuff. What do you guys think?

hello!
I am currently a student at California University State, Long Beach and am extremely determined to attend NYU! Could some of you help me out to give me an idea of what an ideal GPA would be to transfer from a CSU? Also, is early admission a better should than regular admission? Thanks!!

transfer students can’t transfer into LSP so this is the wrong thread.

it also depends on what school at NYU you are transferring into. my GPA was kind of on the low side for transferring into NYU, but i had a lot of ECs. i had a 3.4.

"Is there a Summer reading requirement?
LS Freshmen are assigned a common text to read over the Summer. The common reading for LS freshmen enrolling at Washington Square for Fall 2009 is Sailing Alone Around the Room by Billy Collins. PLEASE NOTE: LS freshmen are also required to read the LS Student’s Guide to Academic Integrity posted on our website at http://ls.nyu.edu/page/ls.academicintegrity"

“Through NYU, within my first three semesters of college, I have held multiple internships: I interned at two investments banks, at two non-profit agencies (The Fresh Air Fund and Mentoring USA), and with the office of a United States Senator.”
