Hello! I have recently been accepted to NYU's Liberal Studies Program and I have a few questions about it. The first one is, would I be able to graduate in four years, doing the core program at LSP then transferring to CAS to major in biochem? Also, How does LSP work with regards to the classes i would need to take to eventually major in Biochem? Like how would I fulfill prerequisites required for my major in that time?

I believe LSP is set up so you have room for electives your sophomore year to begin completing major coursework.

Moreover, they make you take 2 bar sci courses if you want to go to CAS. I know in CAS you’re allowed to do the Chem 1/2 sequence to fulfill your science requirement.

Ask if this is possible in LSP, and get it in writing from an advisor, just in case. If you can, you’ll complete Chem 1/2 and either get your calculus requirement out of the way (Calc 1 as a quantitative reasoning requirement, Calc 2 as an elective) or get started on Orgo/Physics requirements.

I highly recommend you get in touch with an academic advisor. Biochemistry is a very structured major that requires planning, even more so in a very structured program like LSP.
