NYU Major/School question

Hey everyone, I'm currently a Junior in high school and NYU is my top choice. I'm just extremely confused about all the different schools NYU offers. I'm also confused about majors that coincide with different schools.

When I went to an information session there a couple months ago, they mentioned that Tisch has a new Recorded Music major. I'm very interested in that. Being in the music production business has always been a dream of mine. If I want to major in that, do I apply to Tisch? I play the flute, but I don't want to continue that at all in college (besides recreational playing). If I did apply to Tisch for recorded music, would my whole educational experience be surrounded by music? Like band and theory classes? I'm not interested in that at all. I just want to learn about the business side of music and how to produce hit songs.

Let's say I applied to CAS undeclared. Would I be able to take classes at Tisch? Or am I restricted to classes offered within my school (especially for an undeclared major)? What if I apply to CAS undeclared and decide I want to major in recorded music. Would I need to transfer to Tisch, and then take very music-oriented classes? Is it hard to transfer? Sorry about all these questions. This topic just highly confuses me! And if you don't understand some of the questions I'm asking, let me know and I'll try to elaborate.

Have you looked at their website? I just did and it pretty much answers all your questions. I do know that for applying to NYU you have to pick a school, and you get accepted or rejected from that particular one. With Tisch, you can double major outside your college, but your major at Tish is considered primary. Since you have to audition/submit a portfolio, you can’t take classes if you haven’t been accepted to Tisch. So if you want that major, you apply to Tisch and submit the supplement, which looks pretty daunting. Also, the course listings are informative, and unless you have the performance concentration, you aren’t required to tAke performance classes.
