NYU meal plan, housing?

I may be attending NYU next year and am trying to figure out how realistic the FA estimated budget is. NYU estimated $8,790 per semester/ $17,580 per year for room and board. I see that both meal plans and housing are very expensive. For the average student, which meal plan is the most cost efficient while meeting their needs? It seems to me like it might be the 225 Flex.

For housing, it looks like I may need to choose a low-cost triple. Over the summer, I went to a pre-college program where I stayed in a “forced triple” - a room that was supposed to be a double but the squeezed three of us into. Is this what low cost housing is at NYU? How cramped are the low cost triples? Is it worth extra money to get a double? Is all housing, including low cost, still decent?

anyone?

I’m wondering the same thing. I don’t want to stay in an efficiency room but everything else is so expensive. If you end up at Rubin in a cramped triple, you may see me there.

@yoshimax‌ I’ve heard that the dorms for the most part are nice and spacious though, so maybe a triple won’t be awful?

@tlf123098‌ Hopefully. I know the newer dorms have huge rooms (especially Founders). Unfortunately Founders doesn’t have triples.
