NYU midyear report?

Hey guys,

I applied to NYU Early Decision II. My school's semester however just ended last week, and the counselors haven't gotten to send the midyear reports yet. My GPA was the weakest part of my application and I managed to get a 3.9 with 6 AP's this year, and was wondering if NYU will look at that, since decisions come out Wend. and midyears won't be sent until monday or tuesday.

At this point I would imagine decisions have been made. However, if you feel your updated grades can have a significant impact on your outcome, then you should have your guidance counselor call the school immediately (first thing on Monday) and speak to your local- NYU school specific admissions rep with these grades. Do not wait. If they are sent electronically without direct personal contact with the admissions rep, they will probably not be looked at in time.

Hey vigilant,

I was in the same boat last week. My mid-year grades came out, and I wanted them to be looked at in time for decisions. I emailed my school counselor, and the admissions rep I was in contact with at NYU, and they used it to make my decision.

However, there was one class whose grade hadn’t been sent, and it was kind of important. When I emailed my admissions rep, she said ED II Decisions have already been finalized. You can always try to email them because it won’t hurt, but be warned that in almost every case, the decisions have already been finalized.

@naman1221,

When were your report cards released from your school? And when did you call the admissions rep regarding the one class grade that hadn’t been sent?

I got my report cards/transcript on Thursday (2/9) and my guidance counselor told us that they do not send midyear reports until the week of the 13th…so that means that NYU made a decision without my senior year grades, right? (my senior year grades aren’t up to par so it would be best that they didn’t see them lol).

Let me know! Thanks!

@xbluebearrr,

My original report card was sent about a week ago, and I had contacted my rep because my mid year grades were good. I specifically asked them to be looked at for ED II decisions.

If your transcript does not get sent till this upcoming week, there is no chance of it being looked at for the ED II decisions. The decisions were finalized Wednesday to Thursday of this past week (scary, right?). I understand where you are coming from with you not wanting NYU to see your grades. I have friends that are in the same boat. I wish you the best of luck in your decision though!

P.S. Just in case you didn’t know, if you are accepted, Mid Year reports are due by March 1st at the latest.

Again, Good luck :)

@naman1221,

Oh my goodness…how do you know the decisions were finalized last Wed and Thurs? The admissions rep told you that? I’m SO nervous! What school did you applied to? I wish you the best of luck in your decision as well!! Hopefully we can meet each other if we both get in :).

I’m so relieved that they’re not looking at my senior year grades. My junior year grades were pretty good but I took more than I can chew this year and ended up struggling with the classes and of course, senioritis…so my grades have not been very good…

And thanks again! Best of luck to you!

Well like Uskoolfish said, I feel that my grades can make a sinifigant impact on my decision, and since our semester got delayed by a bit due to snow, I think if my counselor gives them a call first thing Monday, they can take another look at my application or factor my grades in, since one of the main points NYU recongnized for people applying ED II is so they can show an improvement in senior year grades
