NYU National Merit Scholarship?

So apparently NYU gives a scholarship if you're a National Merit Finalist and you name them as your first choice. There is no way I can attend with my current financial aid package, so I'm hoping the NM scholarship they give is somewhat substantial. Does anyone know how much it is?

What school (CAS, Stern, Tisch, etc.) were you accepted into? I found this info in the CAS-specific scholarship listing:
Baird Urban Experience
Henry M. Baird Scholarships are awarded to selected students who have been recognized as National Merit Finalists. Baird Scholars participate in special activities, including cultural programs, the Scholars Lecture Series, Freshman Honors Seminars, and community service. In addition, they are assigned a senior faculty member who will customize their academic programs to their individual interests or needs. Students participating in this program may receive merit scholarships.

I’m not sure if other NYU schools have something comparable. You’ll have to check the financial aid link for the school you were accepted into.

I’m in CAS. I didn’t list NYU as my first choice initially, but I’m wondering whether I might be eligible for that if I switched my first choice…

Did you already receive your financial aid package and the Baird scholarship was not listed? If not, it may have been because you did not list them as your first choice school. I’m not sure if that is rectifiable at this point, but it might be worth calling the financial aid office.

Yeah, I’m assuming it wasn’t listed because it wasn’t listed as my first choice. I e-mailed fin aid today, I think I’ll call tomorrow if I don’t hear back tonight or tomorrow morning. Hopefully it’s still possible for me to get it… it would absolutely be a dream come true if it turned out I could attend after all!

Did you get a CAS Presidential Honors Scholarship? If so, that may be comparable to what you would get from the Baird Scholarship anyway. NYU rarely gives anything close to a full ride. Pretty much everyone gets gapped, unfortunately.

I’m not sure about NYU specifically (though I definitely should be) but the general rule of thumb is that you have till May 1 to change your first choice college.

I called NYU and asked, and I was told that Baird for NMF was more of an academic prestige thing, and not a scholarship/money type deal ) :
Also, called NMSC and was told I still had time to change my first-choice college…
