It's a mass email, lol. They haven't ever contacted me before, and made that clear in the email...so yeah.

^perhaps this is your midyear transcript? if so, that would make much more sense.

oh wait...NYU...doesnt need those...

emmared, a mass email? Not sure what you mean by that. Tawny may be correct about them wanting a midyear report. They do this sometimes for borderline candidates. It's very unlikely that they would have waited almost two months since the deadline date to request the necessary transcript.

By mass email, he means automated emails. Every applicant with something missing is automatically sent an email with the stuff that they're missing listed on the bottom. Most schools use these mass-emails as their first option for communication, and call the students as a last resort. I'm pretty sure NYU is the same, as I can't imagine them actually taking the time to call the numerous amount of applicants they receive every year.

Also Cornell and Tufts' deadlines were actually two weeks before NYU's. Yet I just received their emails last week. Schools procrastinate <_<

That's exactly what I mean Ph0enix...and it specifically says "High School Transcript". I don't see why they'd say that if they meant mid-year grades. Besides, they already have my mid-year grades. My school is infamous for not sending high school transcripts, lol, so YES, they did not get my transcript... and YES, I just found out...for the first time.

Here's a piece of the email:

As stated, we are unable to submit your file to the Committee on Admissions because we have not received all of the information required to complete your application. In order to complete your file and have your application go before the Committee, we will need to receive the following:

High School Transcript

And I am a she, lol. :D

so if we weren't able to log in, it doesn't mean we are definitley rejected right

I just got:

Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use this function.

This does not bother me, as I checked after they closed the hole. But does anyone else get that message?

It seems everyone else is getting the birthday related one. I hate waiting!

yeah i got that message as well now

And you got GSPed? Weird.

I applied to Tisch, so I cant still not have recieved a GSP notice.

Hm...

nyu doesnt want mid-year reports? they won't evaluate them if we accidentally sent it to them would they? crapp

An Important Messafe from NYU Bulletin Board

"Earlier this week the Undergraduate Admissions Office mailed our early decision admitted students information regarding how to access their NYU net-id's and NYU Home Accounts. Enrolled students at our institution use their net-id's to access a variety of electronic services at the University, including NYU Home which provides the University e-mail service and important links to registration information.

Unfortunately, a technical problem occured as our technology services attempted to open access to NYU Home for our early decision students and access was temporarily made available to all applicants. This issue has been addressed and corrected by our IT team and access is now limited to early decision admitted students. While the problem was being corrected, some early decision students may not have been able to set-up their accounts. Again, this problem has been resolved.

If as an applicant or admitted early decision student to our institution you have any questions regarding this issue please contact our office at the telephone number below."

so its supposed to be only for ED, not any RD who are even accepted at this point. so dont worry if this is not working for RD.

Assuming you sent them in before march, they would

just out of curiosity, why before march?

do they have all the decisions made now? and are just working on financial aid packages?

"so its supposed to be only for ED, not any RD who are even accepted at this point. so dont worry if this is not working for RD"

Well, let's be honest: the statement from NYU is probably just a lie because they didn't want to reveal admission decisions before they meant to. If you're an RD applicant and managed to get a NetID, well, I'm going to guess that pretty much means you're in. And if you couldn't access it, either they haven't made a decision or you've been rejected, but more than likely it's the latter (for a variety of reasons already discussed -- for example, the school has already made GSP decisions and is probably already preparing to send out Sunday in the Square and University Day invitations this month, and then decisions towards the end of March, meaning decisions have probably already been made).

whats the difference between sunday at the square and university day?

I believe they're for different schools within the university. But don't quote me on that.

There are several different types of these events. Weekend at the Square is usually the one for the big scholarship winners and invitations for that will probably go out next week. Sunday at the Square and University Day are one day events held for the top students, generally in early April to try to convince them to come to NYU.

LoL. Again, colleges take preliminary looks at applications and sort them into groups. The top SAT score/GPA rankings will be put into one group. Everyone in that group will receive an invitation. Most colleges have just started looking at applications in-depth. Also, why would NYU create email accounts for RD students who have not declared intent nor paid their deposit? NYU has a very low matriculation rate compared to say, Harvard. Even Harvard doesn't give out email addresses until students have declared their intent <_<

But whatever helps you sleep at night :)

True, Ph0enix. And people accepted to GSP shouldn't be able to log in yet because they havn't yet declared intent to go to NYU... and ED is binding...
I'm beginning to feel a little better now...
