Bump :smiley: push it back to first page!

I’m applying to CAS ED1 for Economics/Mathematics next year! I have a question:
does your major contribute to whether or not they select you? or is the selection only based on the actual school you’re applying to?

I’m a high school student from Hong Kong. However my SAT result is not good enough to apply NYU,but NYU would accept my local exam (HKDSE) , is it also still a must to have a 2000+ SAT score to submit?
Otherwise I have to go into community college and try transfer to NYU :(

@anthony7666 1900+ could get you in, if you have good extra-curriculars, I dont think it would a huge issue.

Hope that helps

Okay, I am currently a Junior and I am very interested in applying ED to NYU! I know this might be a pretty dumb question but if I want to go into Chemistry, Biology or BioChemistry, what particular NYU school should I apply to? Thanks!!

Private colleges look at your 9th grade-11th grade GPA. Also, for those of you applying ED1 or ED2, make you you and your parents know the financial commitment you are making, since ED is binding, and you may not receive the financial aid you need.

^ But as at any school:

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/ED_Agreement.pdf

So you simply decline the offer and apply RD elsewhere. But do check the Net Price Calculator to see if you’d be wasting your application fee, be it ED or RD.

^^ of course, but no one should waste their time and hopes by applying if they can’t afford it without substantial FA. And it’s not as simple as you would think. I personally know someone who did ED1, and it was very hard to get out of the contract. Plus in the mean time, you’re rescinding your other applications. So it’s just not a good idea to apply ED if you can’t afford a school or if (like NYU and many other schools) they don’t meet need.

Here’s what NYU says about getting out of ED:

<a href=“You’re In. Can You Back Out? - The New York Times”>You’re In. Can You Back Out? - The New York Times;

But again, if NYU’s Net Price Calculator says you can afford it with their financial aid (you’re fortunate if so), then there’s no reason to avoid ED if NYU is your “dream school.”

Also, note that other school applications are withdrawn after you accept the ED school’s financial aid offer.

Yay!! I’m applying ED1 for CAS too!

I’m most likely going to be applying ED1 for CAS as well. :slight_smile: I was wondering after the applications are in can we send in supplemental scores? For example, if you take the SAT or SAT2 in October could you send in those scores when you get them?

I’ll be applying to CAS ED1 for Psychology! I have a 3.7 GPA but an awful SAT score and I am retaking the SAT in October hoping to get above 1950. I have really good EC’s and work experience that are psych related but I am still really nervous about being rejected because of my SAT score. I’m also a bit of a unique case because I lived abroad in China for 2 years before returning to New York for Junior and Senior year of high school. :

I might apply ED. But it is so hard to make that decesion. anyone else interested in GLS?

Hey guys! It’s so crazy that we’re already thinking about applying for colleges! I’ve perused these forums for a couple years now, and now it’s our time!

I’m debating applying ED for NYU. I’m kind of caught between NYU, Northeastern, and Emerson College. I’m visiting campus again this summer, so maybe I’ll re-fall in love with it.

I’m from a tiny, tiny town in Minnesota that you’ve never heard of. I’m looking to apply to CAS to major in Journalism (Broadcast) and, since all Journalism majors are double majors, maybe Linguistics, Language and Mind, or Politics. Haven’t really decided yet. :P

NYU superscores ACT, right? If so, I’m submitting a 33 composite (36 E, 31 M, 35 R, 31 S) and about a 3.75-3.85 GPA. I’m not really sure what my GPA is at this point because I haven’t gotten my report card yet.

Does anybody have information about transferring college credits to NYU?

hi. what do i need to get in stern? thanks

@qazw4100

I did a lot of research around collegeconfidential in the months prior to getting accepted and found that strong candidacy generally requires a minimum SAT CR/Math of 1400, much safer at 1500, GPA minimum 3.8, maybe give or take .1, and strong essays. I didn’t have that many ECs and still got in, but they’ll probably help. However, GPA and SAT are by far the most important as far as Stern is concerned.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

what do i need to get into cas?

have any of you guys started on the application?
