Hi I am applying NYU ED 1.
But I still have a question, do I have to take TOEFL? I am not a citizen but I am a permanent resident and have lived in the US for 2years

Can anyone offer an answer? Thank you

Anyone apply.already yet? How long did it take to receive confirmation letter?

Sorry for my earlier post - NYU does NOT superscore the ACT unfortunately. Guess I will be riding off of a 27 I showed a lot of spirit in my supplement and think I have a good essay. One good thing is that they do recalculate your GPA, so I think mine should be 3.7+, so I’ll just be lacking on my test scores. Other than that I do have great extracurriculars and recommendations…

Sorry I’m talking to myself, haha. I have dreamed about this school forever and really want to get int! Worked hard throughout high school-hope the rest of you ED1 applicants are accepted as well!

How do they recalculate gpa?

The deadline was extended to 11/8! Does that mean that we get the decision later? I hope not…

Where did you get that information from PinkPurple95?

Just saw this on the NYU admissions blog: [An Early Decision Application Extension | NYU Admissions Blog](<a href=“MEET NYU - Home”>MEET NYU - Home)

From the nyublog
“It does not. There are no reported delays with the College Board website (where the CSS Financial Aid PROFILE lives), so there is no reason for us to extend our financial aid application deadline. We do not expect a delay in notifying students of their admission decisions.”

It says it on the dashboard of the common app. Go on there. It says it’s due the 8th.

I have 2 daughter who got accepted to NYU. For both applications (class of 2008 and class of 2012), they absolutely confirmed that they superscore the ACT. Obviously check with admissions directly, because things can change year to year for any school.

As for recalculation of GPA, they use only the 5 academic subject areas to recalculate. So electives such as music and art or other non-core classes are not in the calculation. Again, confirm with admissions.

Anyone applying to Abu Dhabi/Shanghai? :)

“Early Decision Application Deadline Extension: Due to technical difficulties some applicants are experiencing with the Common Application, NYU has extended its Early Decision deadline to November 8, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. EST for students interested in the New York and Shanghai Campuses. Applicants to NYU Abu Dhabi, or our creative and performing arts programs in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development and the Tisch School of the Arts must still adhere to our November 1 deadline.”

@uskoolfish They no longer superscore the ACT. Not sure how they currently recalculate GPA, but hopefully mine does get raised.

Submitted all my stuff. Good luck everyone!!

Heyy party people. Sent in my app last week. Just thought I’d join the party Let’s humor each other for the next 45 days!!

Hey! Just wondering when the email from nyu gets sent out after you submit the common app and supplement. I just did it today and I’m already freaking out! Ah! Also this is just a general common app question but teachers/counselors can still send recommendations after you submit right?

@pink I recieved mine about a week after. And yes, the teachers and counselors are still able to submit their part, at least that was the case for me

Canadian student here!

2250 (760 Reading 750 Math 740 Writing in one sitting)
Looking at a 760+ for SAT Lit

Kick-ass essay, incredible EC’s, just my GPA dragging me down.
I also have two Associate Degrees.
NYU is my dream school (obviously), and I’ve already turned down a scholarship offer from Tulane so I can have a shot at Steinhardt/CAS.

3.3 unweighted, but I have a counselor letter explaining family problems and stress, etc.
Midterm mark is standing at a 3.9/4.0, so at least I’m showing improvement.
Took the most rigorous courses available at school, but avoided anything to do with science and math.

I really want in on Stern, but I don’t have the scores to back up my app.
Do you think Steinhardt would be a more realistic option?
Also, anyone applying Gallatin?

Good luck everyone! :)

I had submitted all ED material for Gallatin! Bless me!

Hey all! Looks like I am a bit late to this forum- but I just submitted my ED app to CAS a couple days ago! Ahh!
Does anybody know how NYU notifies their admissions decision? Via email I presume? If this is the case, anyone know what time to expect the email? And the date is still December 15th right?

Hello all,

I applied Liberal studies program ED1. I’m a track recruit so luckily I have the coach’s support. I’m still worried though, my gpa and test scores arent that great. 3.14 GPA and a 28 ACT. My gpa is low from my fresh and soph years although my junior year gpa was a 3.9, so hopefully they’ll recognize that improvement. I also have great extracurriculars. Coach says I’m the top recruit and he’ll heavily support my application. What are my chances?
