nyu obsession...chances anyone?

obsessed with both NYU and Oberlin, if anyone would like to comment on my chances at either school, that would be phenomenal (also like Washington U. in St. Louis, Wesleyan, Vassar, Tulane, Skidmore..any thoughts?)

junior at 2nd best public high school in my state
GPA (weighted): 4.2 (significant upward trend throughout highschool....3.98 frosh year, 3.98 soph year, 4.65 so far for junior year)...however 4.2 is out of 5.0 scale (ifhonors are taken) therefore a 4.2 = approx. a B+ average on an honors scale
SAT I's: have yet to take the march exams, expecting 700's-720's in writing and verbal, 650-700 in math
SAT II's: Literature (700) - plan to retake, Math (expecting a 650-700), Biology (expecting a 700-760)
honor roll every term of every year
Ap's - junior year: Bio, so far have an A- in the course
taking next year: AP Psych, Ap Calc (AB)

-i have a passion for photography and have had a lot of my work displayed/published, recieved an A+ in every photo course taken, am planning on sending a portfolio of my work, possibly including paintings i did in a honors level art course at my school

sorry i know my information has been long, i could really use your help if you have the time

Whoa, I can't imagine two more opposite schools than NYU and Oberlin. Have you visited both? NYU will calculate an u/w gpa of your academic classes only. It's kind of hard to know without seeing SAT scores what your chances would be. Middle 50% is usually between 1300-1450. I'm curious, but does your school offer more than those APs that you mentioned? Make sure to focus on your longterm e/c's. They'll be found more impressive than a long list of things that you've only done for a year or two. Do well on your SATs, work hard to keep that gpa improving, and take your chance and apply. It's hard to know what NYU looks for more than that these days when they have 35,000 kids applying.

What college at NYU are you interested in? Unless you're applying to Tisch and are required to send a portfolio, don't bother planning on sending that kind of thing to NYU. They won't consider it in the admissions process.

Good luck.

thanks for the imput, haha it seems like a lot of the schools i like are opposits, i'm kind of a paradox. my school also offers AP stat, US history, Chem, Spanish and Physics, and if i end up applying to nyu it will be to CAS. thanks again

bumpppppppppppp
