====NYU Official Decisions Thread for Class of 2012====

I noticed that many people are getting their decisions lately, and thought that it'd be nice to have an organized decision thread to see what caliber of students are coming in this year. This will not only help us distinguish ourselves from the past years' applicants, but also greatly help prospective students applying for NYU in the future. (I remember picking at last year's decisions thread when I was applying for the college).

It'd be the best if this thread is kept clean, meaning only decisions and stats are posted. Other topics can be discussed through other threads, and organized decision threads like this, again, can be very useful to many people.

I will provide with the template below, and start with my own stats and decisions :)

To use the template, copy+paste, fill out your info, and take out all the spaces in the brackets.

[] Awards/Honors: National Honors Society, French Honors Society, National Merit Commended Scholar, Honors Court
[] Other Extra-curricular: I've been a dancer for 14 years and I wrote about it in my application. I also had French Club, Culture Club, and plenty of random misc. extracurriculars (programs, workshops, freelancing) related to journalism. I didn't have too many extracurriculars, but the ones that I did have I had obvious passion for and commitment to.

[] Essays: I've been told I'm a good writer, and I think the essays were indicative of my best work... of course, doesn't everyone?

[] Why do you think you were accepted/rejected? I'd like to think I showed potential. They may have weighted my essays with particular strength because I was going into their journalism program.
[li] General Comments: To underclassmen who are thinking about applying: don't pay attention to chance threads. Apply and see what happens. Don't ever think that NYU is guaranteed to you, or that it's out of your league. I think it's pretty apparent that they take a holistic approach, so let your strengths be the focal point of your application. Don't take SAT IIs that you don't think you'll get an excellent grade on, and don't submit letters of recommendation from classes you struggled in. [/li][/ul]
