I got accepted into both New York University and Boston College for pre-med and now I can't choose which one to go to. I weighed the pro and cons, and they seem relatively even (including financial aid). My parents and counselor want me to go to BC, but I'm leaning towards NYU. Considering this decision will affect the next 4 years of my life and my chances for med school (something I've been dreaming for as long as I can remember), I cannot choose.

Please, any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Type each college into google and then type “student review” next to it.
I’m considering NYU, and apparently pre-med there is a joke.
Plus, BC is harder to get into. I would so go to BC if I were you.

BC. The overall college experience, irrespective of premed (preshmed), is vastly superior in my view. I am not a fan of the total urban experience/no sports/all high rise thingie at NYU, though its a very, very good school. Its also not a warm and fuzzy place from what I hear. You are much more likely to get mentoring and feel part of an overall campus family at BC. Kids get into med school with all sorts of majors. I know an admissions counselor for a major medical school. Seen it a hundred times. Even music majors get into med school. Pre med is just one avenue. BC will give you the Jesuit, well balanced and broad perspective.

I even know kids who were going to be doctors since they were in 2nd grade change their major in college. Yep.

a general view…not considering premed stuff

NYU = urban diversity
BC = homogeneous preppy population
They are both great schools, and BC may have more of a community. However, if you are an independent type of person who wants to live in NYC at one point in your life, NYU may be the way to go

^ Boston College actually has a gorgeous campus and offers the traditional college experience. On top of that, Boston is twenty minutes away by a free bus ride.

You’re right to choose the words “urban diversity,” since NYU’s diversity depends heavily on its presence in NYC, the most diverse city in the world. However, you’ve forgotten Boston.

I’m most likely going to NYU this fall, and I applied to BC and BU as well, so i’ve actually thought about this a lot. BC is the traditional preppy college campus … whereas NYU forces you to take risks and learn more about yourself that will help you once you graduate. I live in NY as well so I know that much of this comes from being in NYC. As for the fact that BC is pretty cloes to Boston … boston and ny are complete opposites. I would lean more towards NYU as well.
