I know it's getting kind of late but yeah I really need to figure out where I'm gonna be next year.

I want to study International Relations for sure and D.C. sounds like the perfect place to do it.
I got a $15,000 scholarship to GW - making it's total around 35,000.
I got a $7,500 schholarship to NYU - making it's total at around 39,000.

DC seems like the best place to study international relations at GW is really well know for it.

But at the same time I feel like NYU has so much better name recognition, which is especially important for law school.

NYU is more my flavor of people.. wayyy more liberal.. but it's fricken cold in NYC, and I know DC is cold too.. but not as cold as NYC. (i'm from texas).

like i have told many people on this forum before- studying IR, if you really are set on studying IR, is a very stupid thing to do at NYU- you are not guaranteed to get into their highly selective program which you apply to at the end of your sophmore year--chances are if you didn't make NYU honors now you won't get into the program of 33 people, beacuse the IR program at NYU is an honors program and you have to be an honors student to take it....it sounds like you're right and don't know much more about NYU than its name.......

I would agree with armcp. If you are set on studying IR, definitely come to GW. GW's Elliott School has better name recognition than NYU for IR specifically. If you have more detailed questions about the Elliott School, let me know.

Go to GW
There should be about it
GW has what you are interested in
GW is superior to NYU in your intended field of study
The opportunities of DC are endless
The professors are amazing
You are IN the program you applied to.
You are NOT guaranteed a spot at NYU
Therefore, why do you want to take a gamble when what you're risking is what you really want- Forget about name recognition- You will be much happier with GW- guaranteed!!!!!

Yeah I agree with them, go to GW. I know it's kinda hard to get over the name recognition/rankings thing (I was choosing between Emory and GW) but it sounds like there's no other reason for you to attend NYU besides that. Good luck! Hopefully I'll see you at GW!!
p.s. i live in MD, and travel to NYC a lot (my friend's parents have an apt there) and ny is sooooooo much colder!!!!

Actually, name recognition is almost irrelevant for law school. Read the law school posts in CC. Scores on LSAT's and GPA are what law schools look at. If you look at the students at Harvard Law, you will see some schools you've probably never even heard of.

Hey measure, I'm from tx too, and I just made a similar decision. Go here, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=174953, people were really helpful. I visited GW again today and I'm going. Elliott just has so much more to offer than NYU for IR. Plus, I get the feeling that GW's faculty are more involved/care more than what I could see from NYU. Plus, GW seems way more personal as well - you're more than just a number, smaller classes, you can tailor your major to exactly what you want, etc.
