nyu or johns hopkins?

which should i choose in terms of best job placement and law school for me later (i'd be in gallatin)

i think they both would have really good job placement. i think this one just comes down to fit.

I have seen several threads on this very topic and I will respond the same as I did to the others.
Both are very good schools and it depends on what you are interested in. What is your intended major?
What is your personality/genre type?

The thing is, I’d fit in pretty well at both. I’m kindof like this mixture of both the schools’ reputed “personalities”. Are they really on the same playing field, as I see that NYU is lower ranking than JH? Is it an unwise choice to choose NYU over JH?

i would probably do english

Well, it really is about fit. My daughter was accepted at both, given a very good financial aid package at JHU. We visited and immediately she knew it wasn’t for her. I would suggest you visit if you haven’t already before the May 1 decision. If you want a beautiful, stately campus with a quad, the JHU may be for you. When we vsited, the students were preppy, and bland. Everything seemed hushed. NYU seems to be a more vibrant and alive school. Students seem to be more on the artsy, alternative side. You have NYC as your learning ground, especially if you are in Gallatin, which relies a lot on NYC as a basis for all the learning opportunities it offers. Gallatin is sort of avante garde and unique, which in of itself is a good thing and makes it special. Good luck.

wow, thank you so much!

Kirunner–I am having the same issue! I got into Writing Sems at JHU–a total dream acceptance. However, I agree with what milkandsugar said about JHU students. They definately seemed bland and I would much rather prefer a school with flavor. The only problem is, I applied to NYU’s CAS since I didn’t think I’d have a shot at any decent writing programs, period. So I am considering going to NYU and then trying to transfer to Gallatin.

p.s. if you want to do English, both NYU and JHU’s English depts. are among the best in the country. So either way, you’d be set.

this is the hardest decision ever! both schools have so many pros and cons. i wish i could pick up johns hopkins gorgeous campus and move it to new york…

how about pick either one, transfer to the other one after 1 or 2 years. There, you go to two different schools. Or you can pick one for undergraduate studies and the other for graduate studies.

Well, it’d probably be a LOT easier to transfer from JHU to NYU than vice versa.
