NYU or Rutgers Honors College for Pre Med

I got admitted into NYU and Rutgers Honors College, but I am not sure which is best for pre-med. I am aware that money is an issue for many; however, my parents told me not to worry about it. Therefore, money aside, which college will be able to get me into the best medical school I can get into? (In addition, my parents have enough money to pay for medical school, so that is not an issue.) I know that a majority is individual effort, but which college will have the best resources/opportunities/classes/professors for my field of study? Will going to NYU greater my chances of getting into NYU School of Medicine? A lot of online discussions on this topic are years old or do not address my question or focuses a lot on money. Any opinion is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Colleges do not get students into med school

The NYU to NYU Med has the potential to help and hurt your chances. If you make a connection at NYU with someone who might help you application, that would be great. Considering there are probably hundreds of kids doing the same thing…it could actually hurt you (being one in the crowd of NYU students looking to got to NYU Med).

NYU may have a slightly better ranking / reputation than RU, but it’s not a school that will make a difference in case of a tie with another applicant. The biggest thing you can do to further your chances is get great grades and crush the MCAT. Get a 37 or 38 on the MCAT, and it won’t matter where you went to college.

^^

There is no “37” or “38” anymore on the MCAT. The range is high 400s to low 500s.

NYU Med is a score whore. That said, privates tend to want diversity and want their med school cohorts to come from 50+ undergrads.
