NYU or St. Andrews?

Haha, no I'm not in at either of these yet, but I'm trying to decide whether or not to apply ED at NYU (St. A doesn't offer an ED option) next year. Which one is stronger in academics? What is the international reputation of each? What have you heard about St. A? I know a lot of people in my school who go on to NYU, but I haven't heard very much about St. Andrews.

…I’ve never even heard of st andrews

it’s in scotland and has a good reputation throughout europe (prince william’s an alumni). the only question is- whose reputation is better?

wqhy would we know anythign about a school in scotland…

I never heard about it myself. At best, I heard about London School of Economics, Cambridge, and Oxford, but that’s it.

Your decision depends on this important factor:

US and English degrees are not always accepted outside their respective countries.

If you want to work in the US, go to NYU.
If you want to work in United Kingdom, go to St. Andrew.

If you do not care where you will work, look at the opportunities and their academic program.

NYU has NYC so every opportunity of sorts is available here. Scotland, I am not so sure about it but for business it’s probably not a good idea. I never heard of Scotland being a financial services place.

I’m a senior this year and have narrowed down my choices to St. Andrews and NYU! So I have to make this decision by May 1st! I am so excited by both schools, especially since I’m majoring in international relations which these two schools do extremely well. St A’s has a great reputation and would actually be cheaper than NYU (believe it or not). I also love traveling and Scotland sounds SO cool. Then again NYU is in New York City for crying out loud and would be amazing. I have definate worries that going to St A’s I’d miss my family and friends while NYU is a 3 hour train ride. I can see myself in both places but I’m going nuts trying to decide!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Since you going to be there at least 4 years, Scotland will be a different and new culture and a big adjustment. I doubt you will commute 3 hours to NYU, you should dorm or rent an apartment (in Brooklyn or Queens where it is cheaper, ~ 1 hour commute). 3 hours is simply too long for you to enjoy the life in the city.

Not sure schools in the UK are 4 years. I believe only 3.
