NYU or UCSD.. help :(

Hey CCer's,

I am deciding between NYU's and UCSD! I plan to major in communication/econ. I also plan to go to grad school after 4 years of undergrad.

I think NYU's Steinhardt has a more prestigious name overall, however, is it possible for me to transfer to CLAS from Steinhardt? Because if it's extremely difficult, I might go to UCSD for I got into the main campus (Muir) already.

*Cost is really not an issue. I'm out of state for UCSD so there's not too much of a difference. *

Another thing that's been holding me back about NYU is that I'm really intimidated by the campus, which is pretty urbanized. I also prefer the Southern California atmosphere, culture, and weather a lot more!

Any opinions would be great! Thank you for your time

i recommend NYU.

why is this in USC forum?

UCSD man! i've heard you say that you love socal, so go there, and its ranked higher I think...

ucsd is ranked 4spots lower than nyu

i think you should go to nyu... since you are communications major

why on the usc forum????

I still think you are getting into USC but hypothetically...

Definitely go to UCSD. The area (La Jolla) is fantastic- one of the most beautiful California coastal cities. The weather is absolutely the best! UCSD is very highly regarded here- full of highly motivated, very intelligent people. San Diego is a GREAT city with many opportunities.

(This is in the USC forum because stressed0ut is an honorary Trojan.)

"why on the usc forum????"
-> "This is in the USC forum because stressed0ut is an honorary Trojan"

ditto

NYU.

and if i go to BU, we'll be close to each other :)

but i say NYU > UCSD.

NYU, so I can take the train down to you. :)

thanks for the support!

I posted my thread here because I know that you all know me better than other group of kids on CC..

Jouraynalism, where are you going?

already given up on USC ^^

cant say that none of yall know me very well but what about

santa clara vs ucsd vs boston college?

rankwise, it goes something like

Boston College,
UCSD,
UCSB

If you're cali citizen and wishes to settle in cali in the future, I'd chose UCSD/UCSB. If you don't mind, Boston College is quite prestigious and I personally know many BC sophmores who transfered to Harvard this year.

not a cali citzen, just grew up here basically and want to spend the college years here (preferably in socal but either or)

which do you think would be the easiest school to transfer to usc from?

like would it be best to go to santa clara, where itd be easier to get straight A's... or hit up boston college where B's are more likely in my future?

Haha.. seems like you and I are in the same boat.

Although it may seem like a good idea to transfer to USC right now, trust me, don't go to a college JUST BECAUSE it's got good connections with USC and it's easier to transfer to USC.

For example, if you enroll in Santa Clara, get straight A's, still might NOT able to transfer to USC due to competition.. what are you going to do then? Where else are you going to transfer to?

I would suggest Boston because Boston is a very prestigious school. Even if you get B's, USC would rather have a transfer who attends a highly competitive college and get B's then someone one flies by a community college with A's. If you attend BC and wishes to transfer to USC, you're like 30% accepted already.

For example, after 2 years of NYU, if I want to transfer to USC, I'll be coming off as a way stronger applicant with my 3.5 than someone who goes to a community college with a 4.0.

stressed0ut i dont know why youre talking about transfering already...it aint over until the fat lady sings. quite frankly what IF you get in? Then youll look like an idiot all over CC

hahaha....

the fat lady sings.. loll you cheer me up :)

I'd rather not get my hopes up.

I talk to a friend that current goes to UCSD and she says that you should go here if you want a more laid-back environment.

UCSD is much more diverse. Plus you love So. Cal
