I got into UF yesterday, one of my top choices. my sis goes there, its closer to home, i am familiar with the school, i know a lot of people who are planning to go, it would be cheaper, and i could probably double major in history and photography.

I also applied to Nyu early decision, and I am expecting that decision in a few days. The office of admissions said I could withdraw my application or change it to regular decision as long as I did it before the early decision acceptances/rejections go out. so I only have a few days left...

If I go to nyu--it'd be great living in nyc. there would be so many opportunities, I would have to make all new friends, but I wouldnt be able to do history and photography both. I'd probably major in history and just take open arts photography classes since there is no minor in photography offered.

If I do get in I'd have to go. Its a great school don't get me wrong but I just dont want to make the change unless I'm sure. I want to know what everyone thinks

WOW this is really interesting…I am in almost the exact same situation, FL resident, got into UF yesterday which is one of my top choice after NYU, also applied to NYU ED 2 (Steinhardt), but I might not be able to attend due to financial reasons which have changed since I first applied. Was going to withdraw my application back in mid-January but my dad told me not to because he knows how badly I want to go…but money has become a big issue…I feel like now it would be way too late to withdraw the app though

If you’re really not sure still, I think you should switch to Regular Decision, that way you still have time to think about it. You don’t want to get into NYU and feel pressured to go there because of ED. Even if you do end up going to NYU I think you’d be happier knowing that you still had other options. If you’re 100% sure (or close to it) that NYU’s where you wanna be I’d say stick to ED2 but otherwise I think you should change to RD. That’s just my opinion. Good luck!

I agree with StephM92. Just change your app to Regular Decision because it’s not binding then. Also, it sounds like from what you’re interests/possible major is, that UF would be a better choice because it seems to cater to your interests. However, I would switch your app to RD and maybe figure things out in April. Good Luck!

I will probably change it to reg decision. I appreciate the feedback and thank you all so much for taking the time to respond. I have been stressing so much over this.

@nyuhopeful2001: I definitely sympathize with you. I want to go too, but I also have a lot to think about. good luck to us both. :)

If you’re only concern about being able to attend NYU due to financial reasons and you truly love NYU, I would advise to keep your application in the ED pool. If it turns out you cannot afford NYU, NYU typically allows you to back out. NYU is quite lenient with it’s ED because of the cost of the school (except to pay around $60k/yr).

I also wanted to change mine to RD, so I called them today but they said that their decisions are ready so they wouldn’t be able to transfer my app to RD but I could back out if I can’t afford NYU if I get in for ED II.
