I want to major in physics but I don't think I have the grades to go to any MIT, or University of Chicago kind of school, I didn't try that hard in high school. However for graduate school I must go to a good IVY league or University Chicago kind of school. I want to know if I do good in NYU poly in there physics major would schools like MIT consider me for Graduate.

The physics program here is more of an applied physics program rather than theoretical physics and would inevitably overlap with the engineering majors since there are mandatory classes all majors have to take such as the Engineering Forum where we share ideas. There’s a Physics Club that’s just recently sprung up and they’re working on some pretty ambitious ideas. They’ve got a prototype gaussian coilgun halfway complete right now as well as the first terahertz laser generator

Yes, I sort of figured that, but can I take my physics classes at regular NYU as a alternative to the physics offered at poly and would that show on my college transcript.

You need to call 1800POLYTECH and ask. My guess? I don’t think you can take Physics at NYU because you can only take classes at NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences. And if they actually do have physics there, you need Poly physics to advance/count. Unless you have a stellar excuse and the Deans are like, YESSSS. Well, that’s just my guess but that’s probably the most you could’ve really gotten lmao since this is an online forum. Seriously call them. Also, try visiting Poly. Maybe you’ll actually like it. And people from Poly end up going to super elite grad schools; what, you think we’re a community college or something? =P
