I got in to purdue for aerospace engineering and nyu poly for mechanical engineering but I don't know which one is better. My main concerns are probably comparing the schools reputations and how easy I could find a job after college/how well I would be paid. Any suggestions?

I can speak for NYU-Poly…

NYU-Poly is ranked number 4 in the nation on payscale rankings and have over 90% job placement rate after graduation or maybe even be recruited before you graduate. If you come to NYU Poly, you get all the NYU resources since they are officially merging this January. Do you like city life? There’s so many internship around the NYC area.

If you want to know the history and other information…

I think I am fine with any kind of surrounding but my main concerns are the education and the job placement. Do you know anything about the education like how are the professors there and how the classes are like?

Yes. The courses at Poly are really rigorous! So be prepare for the intense workload if you decide to come here. According to people who go there, they all told me the work given is just as much as any other top engineering schools in the country(which explains why this school is a bootcamp for engineers). They are supposedly preparing you for the workforce and that can explain the high ranking in pay scale along with (MIT, Harvey mud and Caltech being the top 3)… There are plenty of well regarded professors that are from well respected International universities as well as universities in this country. The school is constantly making a lot of progress after it merged with NYU.

Congrats cma for being accepted at both schools & lilmelonred for a good feedback on NYU Poly. My son got accepted at both NYUPoly & Stevens Inst.of Tech. both with excellent scholarship package but he’s still not committed until May 1st. We’re actually based in CA and visited both schools, he had invites to Purdue also but didn’t have the chance to apply there. What’s your take or know about Stevens from peers?

Also, Poly offers Co-ops…[Cooperative Education | NYU-Poly](<a href=“Home | NYU Tandon School of Engineering”>Home | NYU Tandon School of Engineering)

Thanks lilmelonred… our tour guide then didn’t emphasized that but mostly about internship as well as someone from the admission but I’m sure NYU-Poly has that same program where a student can take-off a whole semester for a Co-op job somewhere say in the Fall & come back later for the Spring semester full-time. Really enjoyed our visit there & even had lunch at the 5 Guys next door at the plaza ~~not sure if you know that In & Out Burger in CA is always compared against Five Guys brand. Have you tried In & Out Burgers by chance?

I’m not a student at Poly yet but I will be in the Fall. The reason why i know Alot about Poly is because I’ve visited the school so many times and have friends that attend there. Also, with much internet research, I’ve learned A LOT of Poly over the course of this year and I know I Poly fits me pretty well. I never tried any of their food places around there except Starbucks because I’m a Starbucks fan. Once I enroll, I do look forward to try Five Guys or other food places. They look good to me and No I never tried In and Out burgers.

Good that you know a lot about POLY on real ‘hands-on’ basis… that’s the way to go to know about things. In N Out unfortunately is only based in western states like CA, AZ, NV & now I believe NM… Have fun in your Poly freshman year, very soon!

Thanks! Maybe i should travel west to try In and Out burgers. hahaa :)

Great forward of this article… better things to come for NYU-Poly in foreseeable future. Now, if you’re a burger lover, i’ve heard people head out straight to In N Out joint ‘next door’ as soon as they depart LAX terminals… (i’m not really that kind of heavy burger eater though lol)… in any case, good luck to your NYU Poly future…
