Hi, I'm really looking into NYU poly because I've been wanting to go to NYU for a long time and I'm thinking about pursuing a degree in the engineering field. I've heard that it's not the best engineering school out there because it's not as prestigious or some bullll, but it looks like a great school.
I've heard the financial aid is great and I honestly don't want to have a huge debt on my shoulders- so is it true?
The classes seem challenging, which is something I'm looking for in a school but do you have enough time to do other things like work as well?
Is anyone in the bs/ms program? I want to do it and it says the requirements are a 3.4 average or above, is that gpa doable in the school?
How's the social life? I'm a girl and I heard it's 80% guys, which I don't mind ;)
I know I shouldn't ask about prestige, but would you say poly is leveled up with NYU or not (just wondering sorry)
and what were your grades like in hs since I'd like to know their standards for admissions
Sorry for so many questions and thank you!

I am not a student at NYU or NYU Poly but I have a friend that attends Poly. Financial Aid is great at Poly compared to NYU. My friend received about 40k in merit/need aid with his family making over 100k/year. Being an engineering major regardless of school will be difficult and time consuming. If you have great time management skills, you won’t have trouble managing school and work. A 3.4 GPA in engineering is excellent and doable if you put in the effort. My friend tells me that social life at Poly is playing video games at dorms but you can always explore what NY has to offer. Poly is away from NYU but you can always join clubs and greek at NYU. I wouldn’t say that Poly is in par with the prestige or name brand of NYU. Getting into Poly isn’t as difficult as getting into NYU or top engineering schools. My friend had a 3.5 unweighed and SAT 2000 with little to no involvement at school. He wasn’t the brightest but he still managed to get into Poly after he was deferred from NYU ED1.

Thank you! Also do you know if with the merger will NYU Poly become harder to get into?

bumppp

I was accepted to NYU Poly with scholarship this year with 30 on ACT with 3.8ish UW GPA.

At Poly You will be dealing with ALOT of work. but yeah its not hard if you know how to time manage.

Do you think I can get in with a 95 unweighted avg. 2000 SAT 250 hours of community service and a few ECs?
