Hi, I recently got rejected to half of my school choices and I am pretty much left with these two schools. I was wondering, how do they compare to each other in comp sci? I would prefer staying closer to NYC, but is NYU Poly's education not as good? People seem quite mixed about it.

Total Costs
NYU Poly - $10k
RPI- $20k

Its on the up and up. it is good and only getting better at poly. RPI is a great school to. I would say poly just because of $ and location but visit and get a feel for what you think.

Oh what does the whole merging of NYU and NYU Poly mean. Does it really do anything for the education?

It means that Poly is a completely a college at NYU so you’ll get an NYU degree. It will be known as NYU school of engineering. If you apply to Poly next year, you need to use the NYU application and poly’s application is gone completely…Their admissions got like so much harder this year and they are trying not to take in people who can’t really handle the workload.

Yes it does affect poly’s education. The opportunities are increasing. Their English standards just got really hard because NYU’s English standards are solid. On top of that, their engineering courses are very tough in general and they prepare you better for the workforce. Though, i’m pretty sure RPI is just as tough.

You can take minor or double major or just take some classes at other NYU schools like CAS, Stern, etc

If they merge does that mean in about a year or so NYU Poly will be quite cheap with the financial aid as NYU is?

From what I hear, NYU doesn’t offer AWESOME financial aid packages. After the merger is complete/ becomes official, I have the sensation that Poly may become less generous when it comes to financial aid. It’s another building for NYU to fund for, after all.

No. NYU’s financial aid package might be abit better now…

Poly’s FA will always be generous but since the merger is happening, they are giving even better packages just for poly kids. That’s what it says on my admission letter.

How is the CS Masters program in Poly?

That is an understatement. NYU (proper) has a reputation for poor financial aid; [CollegeData: College Search, Financial Aid, College Application, College Scholarship, Student Loan, FAFSA Info, Common Application](http://www.collegedata.com) indicates that it meets only 62% of financial need (versus PINYU’s 94%), and it has an average student debt level of $36,351 (versus PINYU’s of $24,862).

The main real worry about going to PINYU is if the financial aid is reduced to NYU levels when the merger is complete.

Hi, I have got an offer from NYU POLY for ms in cs program. Do you have any idea about the program? i am bit concerned about living expense. Will I be able to cover living expense with part time job. pleas do share if you have any info.

Same concerns I want to know. :)
