I'm starting to look into colleges, and I'm hoping to major in Computer Engineering, with perhaps a double major or (more likely) a minor in music.

NYU seems like pretty much a dream school for me, with its location in the middle of Manhattan, huge size, diversity, etc. However, NYU doesn't offer Computer Engineering, at least not until they recently acquired the Polytechnic Institute. From what I've heard, it's a pretty stereotypical engineering school, with a lot of geeks, and few women, etc. While I know that's to be expected in these types of majors, but I'd much rather go to another school on my list, or major at computer science at NYU itself, if its going to be like I'm barely going to NYU at all.

If anyone has any info on if you can dorm in Manhattan, if you're going to polytechnic, or since there's a lot of overlap between computer science and computer engineering, if people can take as many possible courses at NYU itself, and only head into Brooklyn when absolutely necessary.

I'm only a high school sophomore now, and I realize that some of this is likely to change, as the merger isn't quite complete yet.
Thanks
