In your guys' opinions, do you think doing pre-law at NYU would be good? Does it give a slightly upper hand in applying to NYU law school?
Also, what course are recommended to Pre law students?</p>
<p>I am a lawyer who graduated from a top law school.</p>
<p>In my opinion, it doesn’t matter what you major in at the undergraduate level when applying to law school (or business school, for that matter)</p>
<p>However, I would say that you should at least take some courses in Political Science, and American History, so you have a proper foundation to study law.</p>
<p>It might be a bit hard to study Supreme Court cases if you have zero knowledge of American History, or the basic structure of our political system.</p>
<p>NYU has an entire academic advising office dedicated to pre-professional programs.</p>
<p>For pre-law, a good combination of constitutional law (poli sci class), international law (poli sci class), social psychology (psychology class, obviously), ethics (philosophy)… Basically a few classes in politics and philosophy would be very helpful.</p>
<p>There’s a minor - Law and Society - too.</p>
