Hi guys,

I am a NYC HS sophomore and have about a 3.73GPA and really really want to go to NYU's PreCollege Program at Stern. But the $5,000 cost is pretty hard to swallow.

I'm going to apply for scholarship/financial aid. If I don't get it, can I still drop the program at no cost (since I can't pay 5k for it)?

My parents AGI (adjusted gross income on their tax return) is approximately $110,000. I know it sounds like a lot but they're older than most (55 and 57) so most of their cash goes straight into their 401k. Do I have ANY chance at financial aid?

I go to Stuyvesant (a popular specialized HS in NYC). My average is 3.73 (unweighted) so would that be good/bad for scholarship? I can get recommendations (I'm well-liked by my teachers) and I also have a paid job on the side and I volunteer. I also do a lot of extracurriculars (I am the coordinator of an activity in our school that has about 1800 [yes 1800!] active student members). What are my chances in general?

Thanks for all the help. And lastly-- is NYU PreCollege worth it? Is the Stern program good? Is it good for college? I'm a commuter student so the travel is no problem, but is it worth the cost?
