NYU Question - Does anybody really think...

Just curious: does anyone have any thoughts on whether NYU really does or does not consider the caliber of the school that a transfer applicant is coming from? I am just wondering if they would take someone from a "harder school" (not ivy league but not bottom of the academic barrel either) with lower stats over someone from a not so well known state university with a 4.0 GPA.

I am asking because I am in this situation right now (I go to Georgia State University), but I have a 4.0 average, EC's that I am taking leadership roles in, and I am in the Honors Program. I transferred here from Hofstra University (Long Island, New York) because a short term financial problem, but someone said to me that it was a big mistake because my 4.0 from Hofstra (which I did have for 2 semesters straight my freshman year) looks better than my 4.0 from GSU (which I am anticipating having this semester).

Does anyone still think I have a shot at getting into NYU even though I am now attending a state university?

Really, I don't think they will care as much. I think that they put the emphasis on which type of college you previously attended. If you are from a COMMUNITY COLLEGE, JUNIOR COLLEGE you will have less of a chance; however, if you are from a UNIVERSITY, or traditional four-year, the chances are better.

Good luck.
