I have it too!
It’s called a “donation” :))
I know this housing thing likely doesn’t mean anything, but it’s still really weird how they would let someone send $1000 for housing when there is a chance they didn’t even get accepted. :-?
Can’t hate… they’re making big money moves ??♂️
D has it, but link doesn’t work. Once it worked and said, “At this stage you can’t… would be interesting to see given her other positive admissions.
They had an issue with Albert last year that there was a loophole that allowed students to see their decision earlier than the release but it had since been fixed…or maybe not…?
What was this loophole?
That they were allowing people into the portal to pay deposits and there were charges to their student account before the release, which was why I had gotten so excited earlier when I clicked it and got that far without it stopping me. Not gonna lie, you guys all killed my vibe by being able to get into it also. Unless we all got in ?
Hey you never know.
I applied for way too competitive of a major. A rejection letter is waiting to pop up ?
That Albert “loophole” wasn’t accurate. Some people who saw FA changes/ housing changes got denied, and some who saw no changes got offers. We had this discussion multiple times in the ED thread!! . For what it’s worth my daughter saw no changes in the so-called indicators (she did see the housing payment page as does everyone) but got an offer. Also, you all have NYU email addresses, so don’t get excited when you discover that. The email accounts only get activated for those who get offers, after the decisions are out. The only real indicator comes after you click the violet button on decision day…
@dkahfdfhk , major or school? I don’t think major really matters as much as school - especially as NYU allows you to apply undecided.
Also, when you say you could make the housing deposit, did it actually allow you to pay it? Did you get the tuition deposit automatically added on as well?
I meant school. I did stern so RIP. It doesn’t let u pay tuition, just housing. Could’ve donated $1k to NYU for a rejection
Then it’s definiteiy not a sign. You can’t pay a housing deposit until you have accepted an offer - and that acceptance is only complete when the $500 tuition deposit is paid. After my D was accepted, the $500 tuition deposit popped up on the same page as the housing. If I recall correctly (this was a few months ago now!) you could uncheck the housing box (because housing is not compulsory for NYU) but you had to pay the tuition deposit with or before housing.
Stern is insanely competitive… but someone has to get an offer. Did you put a second choice option for NYU?
Probably, I just don’t remember what it was. @SJ2727
I was reading last year’s RD thread and people who received certain merit and specialized scholarships heard back from NYU a few weeks before the general release. Has anyone heard back yet? Or does anyone know when the scholarship decisions will be released? This does not include need based aid of course.
i also am able to pay for my fall $1,000 2019 housing reservation/deposit. i clicked all the way through just to see, and got to the point where i would literally put in my payment information.
super annoying glitch, as i guess people could pay a thousand bucks for nothing haha
@gigiehrhartdt00 Since you need an NYU ID and password which the NYU website states are provided to you when you are admitted, how are you able to log onto the housing portal to make a deposit? I checked–and neither of my twins who are awaiting their decision–have received any kind of NYU ID or password other than the ability to log into their admission portal. ???
@lakergirl6232 The deposit option referenced by everyone is accesible via Albert, there is a button about it that leads to the Bursar. The Housing portal is separate, you can find under NYU Life.
@lakergirl6232 it’s the same userid and password, via Albert.
I’m going to say one last time, lol, that this is meaningless anyway. Just like it’s meaningless that everyone already has a NYU email address set up. None of that is active until and unless you click “accept” and pay the tuition deposit, which I haven’t seen anyone mention as an option yet?
