for the fulll article.

It's from the official NYU website.

Just like many other universities received record number of applications, so did NYU.

I think NYU applications were particularly increased this year, not just because of the baby boomers. Another article on the subject suggested that its numbers were recovering from 9/11?

Yeah, I don't exactly understand why NYU is so popular. I'm not trying to be negative, as I'm sure it's a great school, but I really wonder why it is that NYU has the most applications of any private school? Is it just because it's in New York and is a good school that's easier to get into than Columbia?

NYCity Closeness=The reason why so many people apply &
The school is spending a ton of money to hire good profs from what I've heard
&It's business and art school is top notch
&It's easier than the ivy

NYU is one of the rising schools that has gained reputation tremendously over last 10 years. Although NYU has a long history, until early 1990s, it was never considered a top school. I mean, in 1991, the admission rate to the school was over 50%.

However, with its ambitious campaign to increase the university's endowment, NYU began to gain a reputation as a top school. With alumni support and its excellent NYC location, NYU could recruit amazing professors from other top schools such as Ivies, and its specialization in certain programs made it possible for NYU to become a top-notch school.

Stern school of business is one of the top undergrad b-school with special strength in finance because of its wall street location, and Tisch is considered the best performing art / film school in the nation.

The University is growing quickly even now, and with its expansion plans (recently, there has been a huge endowment by an alumni that the School is planning to erect another subdivision, Silver School of Social Work at NYU) and Manhattan location, NYU will be able to climb up the ranking of U.S. Universities in near future.

I heard that there is going to be an even bigger pool of applicants next year.. applying ED will probably significantly increase your chance of getting admission, because NYU tend to give an advantage to ED applicants

clubbiscuit, thanks!
i'm just thinking that being able to assume there will be a very very large number of applicants would make them less likely to admit people ED.

Unless, the record number is no guarantee, since the yield will likely be lower, and a lower admissions rate my convince some applicants not to apply?

Sorry that this post was so unclear, does any of that make since, and is it valid?

I rather apply EA than ED, I wouldn't want binding with NYU, not that I don't like the college, but binding is reserved for your top choice colleges.

I heard from some people who attend Stern that Stern Professors speak poor english=meaning heavily accented and incorrect. Is that correct?
One of them who told me this transferred out because she was having problem learning because of the poor instruction when there is a language barrier.

Keep in mind this year has had the greatest number of high school graduates due to the eco-boom. That will level off and start going down starting next year. All schools are tending to see large increases.

with the yield percentage of 37% last year, this year acceptance rate of NYU will be approx 30% @-) and I think that it will decrease in the future @-)
