So all my classes start at 8AM from Mon-Thurs and I have nothing on Friday. I’m an Economics major at CAS. Is this a good idea? Is it hard to have most of your days start at 8 or do most people not have that so they get more sleep?
It depends on your sleep habits and lifestyle. Both my D’s would only take an 8am class if it was the only option. But they probably stay up past 2 am most nights on a regular basis. This year D has one class that is Monday morning at 8:55 and she is not happy. Most of their morning classes started at 9:30 am and if they had the choice they would opt for even later. D took some art classes that began around 5:30 and went until 9pm. Your schedule will allow you to have time to work/ intern.
As @uskoolfish mentioned, it’s going to be based mostly on your personal habits. In my 8 semesters, probably about 3 of them had 8am start days. It’s definitely tough (for the majority of people sleeping in is a god send) but you eventually get used to it and then it opens up the rest of your day if you only have 2 classes that day that end before lunch. It was really helpful for my freshman year to finish my classes by 11:45am, grab lunch, then finish all of my homework that day during the afternoon and review class notes, and finally have enough time generally after 4pm for extracurriculars and team sport practice.
If you are going to work/intern part time with your course load then you will have to wake up early for either classes or your work anyway. This applies more so for sophomores+.
