I'm trying to gather info/opinions on the life sciences departments, particularly biology, for NYU CAS. It seems to be rarely mentioned, so I've been concerned. I'm also in the midst of trying to decide between NYU CAS and Emory. Right now, I'm most interested in bio and sciences, but I might change my mind. I'm assuming Emory may be stronger for bio/sciences, but I feel NYU would be better if I change my mind, and might actually help me figure out what I want to do better. Lastly, I was wondering how hard it may be to get into NYU med school from NYU vs. from Emory. I understand my questions are probably difficult, so any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

First, you should know that whether you go to Emory or NYU will have virutally NO impact on med school - don’t worry about this at all.

I think Emory is stronger overall, to be honest. I’m getting a BS in chemistry and neural science from NYU. We have good science programs, but classes are quite large in introductory courses - they get smaller as you go along. I don’t know much about Emory.

Also pick based on atmosphere: NYU is large, in NYC, no campus, no one cares about sports, the social scene revolves around bars and clubs. Emory is Southern, probably more fratty, different environment. The academics are good both places, so pick a place you’ll be happy.

I am actually choosing between emory and nyu now too. I am leaning toward nyu atm just because i really like the school, but i am conflicted since the biology major is not quite ranked as high as emory’s (though i am sure they both are quite the same). so which school did you end up choosin? and do you like your choice?
