NYU Scores

Okay, so I wasn’t planning on applying to NYU because I figured I wouldn’t get in but a last minute decision led me to apply just before the deadline last night… ANYWAY, I’m a little bit confused. First, I have no idea what scores to send. I’m tempted to send AP scores instead of ACT (27 composite), but not sure if they would be to my benefit or not… my options would be: environmental (4), world history (4), psych (4), eng comp (3), human geo (4)… what would be the smartest combo to send, or should I just go with my ACT score? Also when should I have these sent by? OH and I think I said I was going to send ACT scores on the app but does that matter? FINALLY, I have a teacher recommendation for common app in the works, but my teacher last minute opted to do it on paper instead of online, so I won’t be able to mail until after I get back from break on the 6th… is that too late for consideration? Any advice would be amazing, thanks!

According to NYU’s requirements for application, you should have sent your ACT scores or AP scores before the deadline as they ask to have them that way, but you can still try to send them.

If you indicated that you would like to be considered with your ACT scores in the Common Application, then they’ll only be able to see your ACT scores since the system will only link those… but then again you can try to send the AP scores; there’s no harm. What I would do is send the ACT score report. Since 25% of the students at NYU scored less than 28 on the ACT, I would say your score is fine. If you have a good GPA and good essays, you’re likely to get in.
