Hi everyone,
I am seriously thinking of applying to NYU SCPS for the fall 2009 semester. My intended major is advertising. However, the only thing that is drawing me back is the reputation of the degree. Does a degree from NYU SCPS have the same reputation from NYU CAS, NYU Stern, etc?

bump*

Can anyone help?

i would say that because it’s NYU, it still has that prestige added to it.

i mean, even people who graduate from cornell’s ag school are still cornellians, aren’t they?

it’s kind of like, if it looks like a bobcat and roars like a bobcat, it’s a bobcat. ;-)

but seriously, SCPS is fine. it’s just a lesser known NYU school, but if your employer looks it up, it’s still NYU.

SCPS is generally for adult students who went back to school after working.

I believe the marketing/advertising major is in Stern. I suggest you apply to Stern or Gallatin instead.

There is a graduate major in Marketing though if you intend to be a graduate student.

there are undergrad programs in SCPS. i was at a PR firm with an undergrad who was there for tourism/hospitality studies.

my link above has the list of undergraduate programs but there’s no advertisement/marketing except for graduate programs at SCPS. I guess tourism could count to some degree.

whoops. sorry. i skimmed this thread, my mistake.

The advertising program is under Leadership and Managment Studies at NYU SCPS. [B.S. in Leadership and Management Studies | New York University - SCPS](http://www.scps.nyu.edu/areas-of-study/mcghee/degree-programs/bachelor-of-science-degrees/leadership-and-management-studies.html)
I graduated from high school in 2005 and went to college for one semester and stopped for two years. I was working full time that two years. Then I was back in college starting spring 2008. I find NYU SCPS undergraduate program to be extremely practical. However, I got into Parsons The New School for Design. I am still waiting for a decision from NYU SPCS. If I do get in, it will be really hard to make the decision of where to go.

“If a cat is born in a bread oven, is it a loaf of bread or a kitten?”

Yes :). Any NYU grad enters the world with a prestigous degree, no doubt about that.

i doubt anyone would care if it is SCPS. I mean you can simply put Graduated from “New York University” instead of “New York University: School of Continuing Professional Studies”.

it does make sense you are a adult student in the sense you went to work full time and came back.
