Hi,
I was accepted into NYU Shanghai, but am totally caught between NYUSH and a university in my home country. I was wondering if there were any current NYUSH students willing to answer some questions, preferably on facebook, or via email or whatnot to aid. I have no idea how this site works, to be honest!

Very, very appreciated.

i will strongly suggest you don’t come here.
i am a freshman here and am now regretting about coming here. I had had some really good college options before I made the terrible decision, and now i just hate it here; like the majority of international student who are here.
Just so you know, some students have already dropped out midway the first semester and none of them is coming back, along with some other students who have decided not to continue their education here. And the number of students who are transferring next year is just too big.
all in all, nobody is liking it here. If you want to study STEM courses, don’t even think about NYUSH. I am a humanities major, and its pretty good, but the Science and Math track is just like the worst. I know a lot of people (read 2/5th of the people who were in STEM), who are have changed streams and transferring next year just because the science track here is just extremely terrible.

@anonetudiant @osgood1234 I’m also currently a freshman at NYUSH. I came on College Confidential due to boredom and curiosity–I wanted to see what the ED students were saying. I’m not sure who this “anonetudiant” is, but my name is Enrique Menendez. This anonymous student is entitled to his or her opinion but is not entitled to make the rash generalizations he/she made and speak on behalf of the class in the manner that he or she did. I don’t see how statements such as “all in all, nobody is liking it here” and “now i just hate it here; like the majority of international student who are here” have any backing.

I personally greatly enjoyed my first semester in Shanghai. No one was led to go here under the illusion that it was going to be an easy ride. The reality is that you are going to be living in China and that requires thick skin or openness to add some layers to your skin. If you are open to it however, coming here may very well be the best experience you’ve ever had and the best decision you’ve ever made–as it has been for me.

@anonetudiant You are embarrassing us as a student body and yourself as an educated person if the best comments you can come up with are incredibly immature and biased. @osgood1234, I’m also a freshman here and NYUSH and I love it here. It’s hard, and it’s exhausting, but it’s worth it. It’s an incredible experience and you’ll never get a chance like this to study abroad.
