NYU Shanghai

Can anyone tell me what one should expect from NYU Shanghai? How is it affiliated with the regular NYU? Which one is harder to get into?

Cheers!

It’s similar to NYUAD. I wouldn’t say it’s hard as much as it’s selective.

From April 2014

There are just over 6,000 spaces available in NYU’s freshman class across its global network, with approximately 5,500 spaces for the New York campus, 235 in Abu Dhabi, and 300 in Shanghai. Of the more than 52,000 applicants, 96 percent expressed interest in New York (49,261 applicants), 24 percent expressed interest in Abu Dhabi (12,688 applicants), and 26 percent expressed interest in Shanghai (13,491 applicants). (Note: The number of applicants, 52,727, is unduplicated, but because applicants are able to express interest in more than one campus, applicants can be included for more than one campus in the above percentages.)

The University offered admission to 17,483 students to its New York campus for an acceptance rate of 34% (note: this percentage includes those admitted to the School of Engineering. An apples-to-apples comparison between 2013 and 2014 – i.e., excluding the School of Engineering figures – would show the admissions rate remaining the same from last year to this year – 31%); 2,212 were admitted through Early Decision. The University admitted 317 students to NYU Abu Dhabi – 149 of them through Early Decision – for an acceptance rate of 3%. The University’s admissions process for NYU Shanghai is not complete until the release of the gao kao national higher education test results for Chinese students. Thus far, 202 international students have been admitted.

@darvasboxtheory oh ok thanks. What kind of applicants are they looking for if it’s that selective? Are there online tours you can take? I couldn’t find anything about this on Google :(
