Im currently deciding between Carrol at Boston College and Gallatain at NYU and i have a few questoins. I know the NYU social scene is centered around clubs and bars, but for freshman, how common are small parties in dorms. Also, what is the social scene like for sophmores, Juniors, and Seniors. I heard that as students get older @ NYU they party less because they are spread more spread out.. Thanks.

judging from what ive seeen (i visit nyu a lot because i have a lot of friends there and my sister goes there) i dont think freshmen tend to throw parties in their own dorms because the rooms are too small.. water street is known for having crazy parties because it is one of the few dorms with common rooms big enough to throw a decent party. and if people party less i dont think it is because they are spread out, it is because the workload increases...my sister is a soph now and her and her friends pretty much hit up bars on the weekends

At the CAS reception the dean said that NYU is a "community of communities" and that just about whatever you're into you can find people with the same interests because it's so huge and diverse.

If you want to party, you've got to hang out with people who party. NYU doesn't have a "party dorm".
