NYU Spring 2018 Transfer Thread

Is it okay if the application is in on time but the transcripts come in late? I’ve requested them but they won’t arrive in time I think

I applied to CAS but i’m anxious to know when i’m receiving a decision! And yes I think that’s fine you’ll just hear back when they receive them @Tins03

I want to know when I’ll hear back, I submitted my application early September I think, or late August.

Tandon decisions always come out first! My guess is the time it’s 17th of this month.

yeah I think CAS comes out last. Is it true acceptance rate for CAS is nearly 50%? @lsingh1347

@tatidee123 Well I’m just basing this knowledge off of what other people have said in previous transfer threads, but I think for CAS, the acceptance rate is MUCH lower than 50% and this is the spring semester so it might be even harder. Again, I’m just basing this on what other transfer applicants have said, but it is a pretty competitive program.

I have no idea I just know in a previous thread, someone said they called the office and an admissions officer told them that @lsingh1347

does anyone know what’s tandon’s acceptance rate?

Hey guys, did anyone else get an email reminding them to file FAFSA?

@CaribTransfer yeah, I got it and was slightly confused because I submitted my FAFSA a few days ago lol

Hey guys, can you chance me?
I applied to CAS - Politics
Stats:
HS - 3.5 GPA
Worked a full - time job through HS. I also became a manager while im HS.
Ranked: 42/114
I am currently attending a CC in NYS
(Jamestown Community College)
GPA - 3.77 - Criminal Justice
(3.5 first semester, 4.0 second semester, likely a 4.0 current semester)
Working 2 jobs while at college (full-time student, full time Job).
I had the sheriff of my county, the Deans of my campus and an English professor (Comp I & II) write my recommendation letters.
My essay talked about how I came from the bottom of the latter. How I Came from Puerto Rico not knowing any English and working my way up the latter (moved within 8 different states and 8 different schools) I mentioned how I became a manager while in HS. I also mentioned we lived in a car for a while.
Mid-Term report (A,A,A,A,A,B)

What are my chances???

I received an email as a reminder to apply for financial aid for transfers. Does this particularly mean anything towards admission? I read something about it in the last threads there were.

@EconDon23 I was wondering the same thing. I’m an international transfer which means I’m ineligible for FAFSA so I thought it was strange they sent me an email about financial aid.

Can anyone change me please!!!

@edcam I think you have a great shot at getting in. You have strong grades and it definitely shows an improvement from High School. It also seems that you have stellar recommendations, not many students get recommended by the Dean. Not forgetting your EC’s and minority status, I’d say you have a really good shot at both NYU & Cornell. I applied to both too.

School: CAS
Major: Psychology
ACT: 26/27
GPA HS: 3.6 UW / 4.5 W
GPA college: 3.6
College: FIU
EC: Phi Sigma Sigma member, involved in 3 clubs in high school, did my senior year early at community college
Excellent recommendation letter and strongly recommended on college report!
Can someone please chance me :frowning: I don’t think I’ll get in

@tatidee123 I feel confident about NYU & Cornell. I think I’m stressing out about it too much. I’m hopeful that at least one of those schools will accept me. I’m not worried about how to pay because I live with a single mother who only makes 9,500 a year so FA will definitely help and grants. Does anyone know when we are suppose to hear back from CAS?

Sorry about that, tagged the wrong person. I meant @Carib Transfer

I applied for Tandon Mechanical Engineering Major w/ Aerospace concentration on Nov 1st. I didn’t know it was rolling in basis. Did anyone hear anything yet?

High School 3.3GPA
2008-2010 Undeclared Major in a NJ State University I got a 1.9GPA
2015- 2017 I went back to school in community college finishing up my A.S. in mechanical engineering this semester with 3.956GPA (none of the class that I took in the previous university applied to this degree plan).

I was a bad kid but I changed a lot as i got older. Studied very hard like literally day and night no weekend and got my current GPA. My physics professor is very supportive (I didn’t get into University Of Texas because of my old grades and he felt really bad because he knew that I was hardworking) and wrote me a strong recommendation.
