@EconDon23- I feel your pain. Take it from a lifelong Manhattanite , NYU is cultural shorthand for “wealthy international kids” in the professional world. If you have aspirations for Finance, Medicine, Law- having an NYU undergraduate degree won’t mean a thing (unless your in stern). If your parents are not helping to subsidize your living, trust me not getting in is a blessing in disguise. The university is the least bit diverse (from a socioeconomic vantage point) and your more or less taught by TAs. The real reason I applied/want to attend is two fold: Columbia does not accept spring transfers/I don’t want to leave Manhattan and drink 6 dollar beers on Friday nights with kids who wear boat shoes. In terms of actual learning in the classroom, NYU is nothing special. You have a superb gpa (slightly higher than mine with more challenging classes I suspect) and any school that accepts you is lucky. NYU has done a wonderful job of branding themselves as a teir one university, but the reality is it was a commuter school until the early 90’s and has benefited a great deal from Gentrification and Globalization. Does Darmouth have a “Darthmouth Dubai” what about Tufts, or Georgetown (where I just recently put my deposit down)? NYU is a real estate business that happens to also be a university. Don’t fret, greatness awaits wherever you attend.
@mastermorality2 not one to shy away from self promotion are you?
@gswitch that is exactly what I have, but I believe @washingtonsqpark 's status has changed to view 2019 as well.
@mastermorality2 Yo, Morpheus. I know you think you sound cool as hell right now, but in 10 years when you get over your Nietzche-Summaries pseudo-philosopher phase, you’ll look back and reeeeally regret your pompous squawking. You sound like a child and it’s making the school, this thread, and especially YOU, look weak.
You’ve ruined this thread with your whining on multiple occasions now. Get off your high horse, dude.
Also, it’s “you’re in Stern” not “your in stern.” Just a heads-up so you get good grades for mommy at Georgetown.
Anyone get a decision today?
Hi all,
Just curious to know if this is a possible scenario for indication of admission.
As per @TransferBrotha 's post, I checked the NYU housing website (https://housing.nyu.edu where my profile has just been updated) and I found my NYU University ID. Can everyone see their university ID on the housing page? I also gained access to 2018 housing applications.
Am I getting ahead of myself?
Thanks.
@LONGBitcoin yeah everyone gets a NYU ID when they apply
@LONGBitcoin you receive that number as soon as you apply. Does that site say you have housing applications available? For me it shows my name, NYU ID, NetID, gender, and age, and says there are “no applications available.”
@LONGBitcoin Also, what school did you apply to?
@TransferBrotha Yes.
@TransferBrotha CAS Economics/Computer Science
@LONGBitcoin if you have financial aid change and housing apps, I think you’re in!
@LONGBitcoin that’s interesting. We both applied to CS and got the financial aid change at the same time.
@washingtonsqpark Yes, although I did not see year 2019 in regards to the financial aid status, only 2018. Are you able to access housing applications as well?
@TransferBrotha Let’s hope so! Best of luck!
@LONGBitcoin I’m not sure if I’ll be able to since I didn’t apply for housing. Where do I check for that?
@washingtonsqpark @LONGBitcoin when did you both notice the change?
When I click on “View My To Do List,” I get:
2017-2018 FAFSA Received
Received
Financial Aid
NYU has received your FAFSA. All students who successfully file their FAFSA will be reviewed for federal financial aid. NEW FRESHMEN 2017-2018: To be considered for need based institutional financial support, both the FAFSA and the 2017-2018 CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (and Noncustodial PROFILE or Waiver Request if applicable) must have been filed by the deadlines listed on our website. http://www.nyu.edu/admissions/financial-aid-and-scholarships.html
@TransferBrotha last night, a little before midnight. Then, it changed again after midnight and once more this morning.
@washingtonsqpark https://housing.nyu.edu - same login as Albert.
@TransferBrotha 's housing status says unavailable, but I am able to view spring and winter 2018.
