NYU Spring Transfer 2015

Who else is applying? Come on, I can't be the only one!
So yeah, 3.9 at a CC in So Flo and a crummy 28 ACT.

Posts stats and who's-and-what's-its!

I’m applying and I hope I can get in and get some decent aid… but thats asking too much knowing NYU. :P

Transfer Student, Sophomore Standing
GPA: 3.976 out of a 4.0 scale (All A’s except for one A- in English Comp 1)
Current School: CUNY-City Tech (currently Electrical Engineering Tech major)
Applying for: MechE into the Polytechnic School of Engineering
E.C.s: Two research projects, one in thermodynamics and one in chaos theory (total hours of research-64)
Recommendations: Eh… I think they are average, one rec is from one of the professors I’ve done research with though.
Hooks: URM? (Black/African American) Does that even count for transfers?
Transfer Essay: Really good.
Writing Supplement: Really good.
SATs: Not submitting
ACTs: Never took
High School gpa: 3.2
Credit amount: Currently 39 credits, At the end of the fall 2014 semester I will have 56

Yeah, forgot to mention. NYU doesn’t require SAT or SAT with people who have completed 30 credits so yeah.

@BoredEngineer‌, my only sub-A grade was in a english composition class too. Haha, what a coincidence!

What school of nyu are you applying too?

CAS, I’m not a hero rofl.

Good luck!

Thanks. Anybody else applying for a wonderful two or three years in the village?

@BoredEngineer‌, are you applying anywhere else?

WPI
Syracuse University
SUNY: UB
SUNY: Stony Brook
CUNY: City College

Since you’re looking at in-state schools, Cornell doesn’t require the ACT, you should send an application their way as they have a state-contract engineering school that is friendly with NY-state schools or so I have heard from reliable sources.

I can’t apply now, its too late. I would be too late with the CSS Profile. Anyway I plan on trying for Cornell a year after I stay in one of the schools I listed above.

@BoredEngineer‌ Chance me, I guess?

I would need to know more stats tbh… GPA and ACT aren’t everything lol. How many college credits do you have at the time of application?

The A.A.

what about ECs? What program in NYU are you trying for?

I have plenty of ECs. Psychology in CAS & Social Work in Silver (applying to both). I am a URM and have plenty of work experience in the mental health field. Not really much going on besides that.

Hey Guys!

I’m currently a freshman at UCLA, but I’m looking to transfer to NYU. I got in for fall 2014 and basically picked UCLA because it’s cheaper, but I’m kind of regretting that decision now. I absolutely love New York and NYU, and th realities of graduating on time in an apply-in major at public school are starting to weigh on me. So I was wondering what my chances are as a transfer student in the spring semester of 2015.

Here are my HS stats
GPA: 4.3, 3.97 unweighted
SAT: 2220
SAT subject: US History- 740 Bio M-740
ECs: Lacrosse for three years, some random clubs, I worked at a bank and volunteered with FFCC at food packaging events and in a special needs class at my local elementary school, two years of choir.
I am applying to the journalism program.

So what do you guys think? I know most people on here aren’t trying to transfer as a freshman, but I’d appreciate any advice. I haven’t written the essays yet. Also in terms of financial aid…will I even get any? My parents financial situation looks good on paper but when it comes down to it, we don’t have any money saved and we have some extra medical expenses…I’m taking loans at UCLA as it is.

Thanks! I wish you all the best!

You’re in for NYU with those insane stats. I heard aid is stingy at NYU except for poly so…

You’re set. Welcome to the club lololol
